Yesterday was Charlie’s 3rd Gotcha Day. He came to us as a foster, 75-lbs of energy/anxiety. He’d tear the curtains off the front door if I went out without him. I lied for weeks and said he’d just be a foster, but when the rescue agency found a home several states away, I couldn’t let him go. He’s my shadow, my best buddy, and the handsomest goodish guy. And he’s grown into a 100-lb bundle of love and goofiness, the self-appointed defender of the house and back yard, my K9❤️.

was the most productive day I’ve had in maybe 3 years. Mowed and cleaned up the back yard, trimmed some trees, weeded, and pulled out miles of vines. Then went and got a haircut and groceries. If the rain holds off I’m gonna grill some steaks and take the wife to a movie. I’m exhausted but it feels good to know the several surgeries and physical therapy were worth it.

The last thing I remember before they knocked me out for my EGD was telling the nurses I was a Swiftie. I did not know that there was going to be an interrogation. Anyway I’m going home to watch the Eras movie because I have the day off and at 60 I pretty much do what I want. Unless contraindicated by medical or spousal advice.

Good news to share . My brother had his feeding tube removed. He’s doing so much better and we are all over the moon happy! Also my knee surgeon released me to do whatever I want. It will be so great to get back into a walking routine and lose some of this weight. And at work one of the veterans I helped emailed my boss to say how great I am. Right at eval time! With all the good news here I don’t even care that the rain is gonna wash us away lol! Y’all have a great .

I gave myself my weekly injection, made my wife a late breakfast, and cleaned up dog poop from the back yard. And of course played with the dogs a bunch. I’m done I think. I actually think today was the first time I’ve been down in the back yard since my surgery (it’s a little sloped and uneven so I’ve avoided it). I should probably take a shower but maybe a nap first. At least maybe I’ll just lay down here and rest my eyes.

When the sun comes out between showers, we race outside. Typical spring weather for Humboldt. After we threw the ball a few times, Grandma had to sit in the sun to start calling for doctor appointments.
It is nice to be outside for sure.

Great day ! The reviled home PT bike has been carted off by the vendor. Ended up not using it about two weeks ago bc it was causing problems. My PT is about done. Almost have my hip issues fixed and other than that I could probably do everything on my own. But I like the accountability of the PT office and right now have no copay so might as well take advantage of it. Still some minor achiness and inability to get comfortable, but so much better than before the knee replacement.

@Lizette603_23 I had my left one done last year, the right one in February. Each had its own challenges. I didn’t have hip issues last time, but it has been a challenge this time. It’s an easy issue to reduce the pain short term, and exercise fixes it long term. I’m lucky to have a great PT team, even if I call my primary therapist “Satan,” LOL. This ends a string of five surgeries in about 2.5 years. I’m looking forward to being (mostly) pain free and able to walk for exercise again.

Update on my little brother . The important part of the graft in his tongue still seems to be holding. He is still using a feeding tube and will continue to do so for maybe 10 days to allow the graft to heal completely. Best news is he is expected to be discharged tomorrow!
