My friend has the most fun outhouse wall! Buoys she has collected on the beaches. Love Alaskan honeypots- some fantastic design ideas! I just hang our buoy finds in our trees... I need to get more creative.

@kboyd that’s awesome! Nice fat star there. Up in SE Alaska I was just out and sadly witnessing another bay still being hit by wasting disease. Hopefully it’s not making a comeback!

Lovely day for a commute on our Marine Highway! (Juneau here I come- time to drop off my truck for some much needed repair.)
I kinda love that I’m putting a truck on a ferry, sailing for 8hrs, dropping the truck off for service, flying home, and then reversing that whole journey in a week. Just to fix an old truck because I want to get up our mountain roads to go hiking. Though, I am bringing furniture back for a friend too.

16 days until it has to come off the loom. Of course there is much much more after that- it will get fringe, fur, metal cones. But only 1/3 left to weave- but no time like the last minute! eek!

34 days to go. Half way finished! Working title, “Energy of the World” or “Energy of our Youth” (I do like the double meaning of the latter title). Being woven for my little niece, Bonnie. Welcome to the world little one!

@seachanger I’ve been weaving with Deb, but as a fellow weaver as she teaches cedar and basketry rather than fiber. I’ve been weaving under Lilly Hope and Shaadootla Lyall. If you’re in Juneau at the end of April perhaps you’ll come watch it be danced!

@seachanger haha- my hands have been alright but my poor brain, it gets scrambled frequently with this project! And yes- it’s been so amazing to have those two as mentors, plus I’ve gotten to meet some very talented people on this journey.

I visited my friend at their machinist school last week, where they’re learning to program huge machines to cut metal into intricate parts. watching a CNC machine execute its commands was unexpectedly chilling — it reminded me of getting annihilated by my phone’s backgammon game on the smartest setting… something about the way it doesn’t think, which takes time. it just lives in a brutal present tense of task execution. this is a subtoot about the dawn of the age of robot wars on earth

Only 45 days until my child sized robe is danced in ‘The Gathering of Ravenstail Robes’ in Juneau, AK! (The enormity of this is starting to set in. This is not enough time. It has to be enough time.) I am proud to be a part of the reawakening this beautiful and complex artform. (Complex is an understatement. It’s mental gymnastics.) Working title for the robe: Energy of the World.

So one of my hobbies is to go around and make designs in the wild ice, “figures”. (The artform that is the predecessor to modern day figure skating.) They are ephemeral, and more often than not I’m the only one who sees them (besides a few passing eagles I suppose), but they make me happy.
