MossyFeathers,

Damn, sun. You’re really trying to cause problems for us, huh?

MossyFeathers,

If I had a fursuit/scalesuit then I’d absolutely do shit like that. So, I guess?

MossyFeathers,

I’m pretty sure you might get shot if you tried this in Texas. Some crazy would get mad about how dinosaurs were invented by Satan to mislead people into believing in evolution and therefore wearing a dinosaur costume makes you agents of the devil or something.

MossyFeathers,

If you’re referring to furry conventions, then I’ll chime in and say there are plenty of hot people in the furry community. They just usually aren’t the ones who get mocked on social media for being awkward.

MossyFeathers,

I want it to be real, damnit! It’s really funny.

MossyFeathers,

Dinosor…

MossyFeathers, (edited )

Dude, that’d be an awesome BoI item.

Plastic Dinosaur (active item, 4 room charge):

  • size up 3x
  • 2x damage
  • deal contact damage
  • immune to contact damage (can still be hurt by projectiles)
  • can’t fire tears
  • killing enemies makes Isaac roar
  • 50% chance to consume enemies and gain 1/2 heart (or maybe an item charge) when Isaac’s damage is greater than the enemy’s max health.
MossyFeathers,

There are already active items that make you fully immune to damage (not just contact damage). That said, they are time limited as opposed to being functional as long as you stay in the room. However, my thought was that still being vulnerable to projectiles would help balance it, especially since it would also increase your size 3x, which makes it harder to dodge projectiles due to the increased hitbox size. Iirc size up at least used to increase hitbox size, though I think it was capped to stop you from being soft locked because you were too big to navigate the rooms.

MossyFeathers,

Seriously. Even my dad who has a seemingly near-religious belief in capitalism (hello from 'murica) thinks that nationalizing food production wouldn’t be unreasonable.

(I don’t think my dad is as much of a capitalist as he thinks he is, but don’t even think about using the scary S word around him. He’ll try to find any excuse to say that capitalism is better than socialism. I don’t think he really understands what socialism is, but he’s not really interested in learning either so I just avoid using the term when talking to him. shrug).

MossyFeathers,

Dinosaurs had hands. Are you trying to tell me that millions of years of evolution removed their hands?

No.

They’re just really good at hiding them.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoatzin. (Read about their juveniles.)

MossyFeathers,

Ah, the good ol’ pedestrian mulcher. Wanna make sure the guy you accidentally hit can’t get up and sue? Drive this baby and turn them into a fine, red paste.

MossyFeathers,

“I’m sure that Gov. Noem doesn’t mind a focus on tensions with the Native Americans in South Dakota because if we’re not talking about that, we’re talking about her shooting the dog,” Jillson said.

Ha! Jokes on you, we can do both. Watch:

Kristi Noem was expecting for the tribes to learn how to behave from Republicans. Now she’s mad because they’re obviously untrainable and out of control and she can’t legally put them down like she could with her dog.

USA Lemmies: Where do you live?

I comment a lot on stories having to do with state governments and legislation or regions of the country. It got me wondering how many people I’m accidentally disparaging when I don’t mean everyone in said state or region is terrible. So… Please be as specific or obtuse as your privacy filter requires. I’ll start:...

MossyFeathers,

Texas.

It’s okay. I don’t blame people for hating our legislature, just try to remember that not all Texans are shitty people.

MossyFeathers,

They’re illegal federally now.

Thanks Biden’s FTC

MossyFeathers,

They said the outage was caused by a misconfiguration that resulted in UniSuper’s cloud account being deleted, something that had never happened to Google Cloud before.

Bullshit. I’ve heard of people having their Google accounts randomly banned or even deleted before. Remember when the Terraria devs cancelled the Stadia port of Terraria because Google randomly banned their account and then took weeks to acknowledge it? The only reason why Google responded so quickly to this is because the super fund manages over $100b and could sue the absolute fuck out of Google.

Maybe when it comes to shows, but the Ancient Aliens doom wad is one of the best games I’ve ever played. Honestly deserves to be made into a standalone game.

Edit: fuck, I cannot stress enough how good that mod is. My jaw repeatedly hit the floor when I played it for the first time. Not because it uses some crazy modern GZDoom black magic, but because it’s just so. fucking. good.

MAP01 is the most memorable intro to a doom wad I’ve ever seen.

The visual theme of Culture Shock is such a tonal whiplash compared to the rest of the wad that I had to keep stopping to think about what I was playing.

The centerpiece of Illuminati Revealed infinitely spawns enemies and keeps you on your toes.

Wormhole Junction is just… chef’s kiss.

It’s all so fucking good.

And the teleporter effects. Oh my god the teleporter effects. I’ve never seen a game, ANY game, have the same kind of visual effect. Hell, the closest any game has come to having a similar visual theme is Uru: The Ages Beyond Myst, and that’s not even a first-person shooter.

I knew Ancient Aliens was considered a 10/10 by the doom community for a while, but I had avoided it because I thought it was gonna be kinda cheesy like Batman Doom or something. No. It’s fucking amazing.

MossyFeathers,

What about it? It’s a big solar flare, but my understanding is that it’s still not big enough to do any real damage.

MossyFeathers,

I’m sad. People were saying you can see it in Texas (as far south as Houston!) if you have a phone with a really good night-mode camera, which I have. But it’s too cloudy.

:c

Edit: this was a picture taken by someone in Houston:

MossyFeathers,

I want to leave the US but I honestly don’t know how. I have no idea if I have any skills that’d let me get hired by a non-us company, which is kinda what’s necessary to immigrate to another country, right?

MossyFeathers,

I hate that “Marxism-Leninism” refers to the brand of communism and socialism that Stalin practiced. It should be called “Stalinism”. From the little I know about Marx and Lenin is that Marx had some good ideas and while Lenin had some bad policies, he also had a genuine interest in trying to do what was best for Russia. Meanwhile Stalin let millions starve.

Also Marxist-Leninism is doomed to fail imo. I believe that in order for socialism to truly succeed, you must ensure that the world’s leading countries practice socialism; or at least ensure that your country is capable of fulfilling every step in the supply chain for any given good for now and the future, either by itself or via allies. Attempting to do it on your own like Marxist-Leninism suggests, is a road to failure because capitalism will attempt to starve you (and likely succeed at doing so).

Capitalism is inherently opposed to socialism because the true end game of capitalism is for an individual, or group of individuals, to own everything. However, they can’t own everything if a country’s culture is opposed to that form of selfishness. Additionally, the capitalist’s peasants might get funny ideas if they see a country based on mutual goodwill succeeding. Stalin played right into the hands of capitalists. He deserves to have the inherently flawed and doomed-to-fail ideology named after him.

Fuck, I barely got any sleep last night and I can’t tell if I’m being coherent or not. Additionally, now I have a conspiracy theory that this was all intentional. Tying a form of socialism that was oppressive and doomed to fail to Marx and Lenin was an intentional move by capitalists to conflate Stalin’s garbage with a legitimate desire and attempt to create a better world. By doing so, you create the belief that even Lenin and Marx supported oppression and that oppression is therefore inherently a part of socialism and communism. As such, by calling themselves Marxist-Leninists, they are falling into a trap created by capitalists to defame such ideologies like communism and socialism.

Also I wanted to make a comment about how capitalism is like economic heroin or something: extremely enticing and addictive; but I’ve got no clue where to put it.

Belgium broadcaster interrupts Eurovision semi final to condemn Israel's war on Gaza (www.middleeasteye.net)

A Belgian broadcaster interrupted its coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest semi-final on Thursday night to display a protest message condemning Israel’s war on Gaza. In an act organised by a trade union, the screen briefly went black ahead of the semi-final coverage on VRT, Belgium’s public-service broadcaster in Flemish....

MossyFeathers,

What would happen if someone were to, say, use free phone numbers from Google voice or something like that to spam thousands of votes?

MossyFeathers,

Ooohh, I misunderstood. I thought it was like, “20 free call-votes then your votes stop counting” kinda thing.

MossyFeathers,

Thanks! I actually discovered that the music videos everyone posted a couple months ago aren’t geo-blocked like the competition seems to be. I know it’s not quite the same as the live shows, but I was mainly curious about the music.

My take: a lot of the music is just so… bland. Like, no offense intended, it’s just so bland. Most of what I listened to is stuff that sounds like top-10 American “”“Corpo-Pop”“”. I only got about 4-5 songs in before I started skipping to anything I’d heard about or looked interesting. That said…

Armenia/Ladaniva - I loved the blend of folk and pop that Armenia’s entry had. I don’t know if they qualified for the finals, but imo they should have. That said, I’d love to see Armenia dig System of a Down out of hiatus and send them to Eurovision. I know SoaD is technically American, but all the band members are Armenian. The big issue I can see, however, is that despite Serj’s insistance to the contrary, SoaD is a very political band and might refuse to participate simply because Armenia would have to muzzle them.

Austria/Kaleen - sorry Austrians, it’s extremely bland.

Australia/Electric Fields - probably should go back and give this a second try. I felt like it was going somewhere, but kind a lost interest halfway through. I’d love to see Australia field King Gizzard, but they’d probably have the same issue as Armenia would have with SoaD. I can’t really see King Gizzard being willingly muzzled. They might be able to talk them into something like 12 Bar Bruise though.

Croatia/Baby Lasagne - heh, Baby Lasagne is fun, plus he’s got a silly name.

Estonia/5MIINUST x Puuluup - Wasn’t a huge fan of this entry, but I still enjoyed it for the same reason I liked Armenia’s entry.

Finland/Windows95man - deserves to be in the top 3. While I didn’t feel like the music was that amazing, the stage show in the music video was 10/10.

Ireland/Bambie Thug - yeah. I like this. Not the music itself, but how “risky” it is compared to the other entries I listened to. I like that Ireland took a risk.

Netherlands/Joost Klein - I can’t decide if I like Joost’s Europapa or not, but I can tell why people liked it and the music video was great. The story behind it makes me really sad he was banned for such a minor thing. This might have been his only chance to really participate in Eurovision and he got banned for obvious bullshit.

There were others I listened to, but I just… they were just kinda meh. All-in-all, I was honestly hoping for stuff that was more unique and risky. Maybe I just got unlucky when I was skipping through stuff though. Also, Eurovision should loosen the “no politics” rule. Telling countries not to take shots at each other is reasonable. However, there’s a lot of “political” music that doesn’t specifically call any one country or culture out (like environmentally-focused stuff) which would probably be disqualified if it was written for Eurovision.

Are there any others that I should listen to?
