Tonight my 22 year old sister-in-law asked me to help her eject a disc from an external DVD drive she had. She couldn't figure out how to turn it on to get it out.

I said in my best McGuyver voice "Okay, I'm going to need a paper clip". I uses the little manual release button hole to eject it...and felt ancient.

Now that I've depleted my coffee stash from roasting two weeks ago it's time to make more. This time with Bourbon (not the alcohol, the Arabica bean variant) green beans from Burundi. I'm excited to taste the differences.

@RockyC I've got a small counter top roaster on amazon, it makes 70g at a time. It's essentially a popcorn air popper with buttons for timing and a tray on top to catch the chafe that comes off, so it's a cleaner process.

It's not the most accurate one out there, but it was cheap ish and a way to get started. I can already see myself getting a different one in the next year to get more control over the roast.

@RL_Dane Ihad to look up the Bripe video to remember which it was, but I had seen that before. It was good! He's very knowledgeable, so watching his stuff has been helpful for me to get the most out of my home roasted coffee.

@RL_Dane No, I just make coffee with filtered water from a filter jug. Nothing special. I do have my microwave time dialed in for the water for aeropress, but my gooseneck only boils, so I have to get timing down on that as well...

@RL_Dane lol I've heard coffee purists don't do microwaved water..but it works for me.

We have a 500 mL measuring cup that I just put the water in, 2 minutes and 45 seconds of microwaving and it's the perfect temp for my tastes for the AeroPress.

For other coffee options I do the kettle.

I need to stop going down rabbit holes on Youtube/Invidious. I am now getting deep into bread making videos, and have learned a new (to me) technique for kneading flour, and now all I want to do is make bread.

I am sure there are worse impulses to have.

@steve I've been using a dough whisk (so still manual), but now i want to try it this way.

I've also just discovered poolish, which is like a sourdough starter, but only made the night before, no maintenance needed....that's way more my speed! I see myself baking this weekend lol.
