All I saw was sandwich for at least 15 seconds

OhmsLawn,

It still looks more like a sandwich than a shoe.

What a startlingly ugly shoe.

OhmsLawn,

The Onion has gone so hard recently, and real stories have gotten so bizarre.

I’m really getting confused.

OhmsLawn,

I’ve noticed a distinct sharpening of the satire at The Onion since it changed hands.

I heard that images can't be deleted from Lemmy instances, due to bugs and various implementation details. Here is an image that has been deleted from the internet, to see if that fixes it. (lemmy.ml)

Edit: I was searching for a “meta” community, since this is a post on Lemmy about current Lemmy limitations… But it turns out that this might very well be off topic. I apologise if it is the case… I would gladly take suggestions on what community would be best for this post, BTW.

OhmsLawn,

It seems like an insane idea, but bullets really will curve around in the most surprising ways

OhmsLawn,

It was big news about a decade ago when gravitational waves were first detected by LIGO

A decade ago. That kills me. I still think of this as a recent event. Let’s not talk about how long we’ve known about dark energy…

OhmsLawn,

To get that thing under the platform, you’re going to need to add stubby legs like the ones on a stuffed chair, unless you want it to look like a dorm room with sticks or bricks. At a guess, I’d say you’ll need 1 leg for every 2-3 linear feet that the bed contacts the ground. Don’t forget the center support.

Platform beds aren’t designed to have legs, so you’ll need significantly more legs than a framed bed would have. You’ve got to spread the additional stresses evenly or it’ll all loosen. It’ll start creaking and the drawers will get stuck with too few supports.

Hyundai launching cheaper IONIQ 2 to sit below the IONIQ 5 – Here's what we know so far (electrek.co)

According to Hyundai Europe’s VP of marketing, Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, the brand is developing a cheaper IONIQ 2 electric car. Hofmann broke the news this summer following rival Volkswagen unveiling its ID 2all concept. The VW ID 2all will start at around €25,000 ($27,000) with up to 450 km (279 mi) range. It’s expected...

OhmsLawn,

Oh please let it be small, low and sporty. I’m so sick of upright seating and airy cabins.

OhmsLawn,

Fracas is a good one.

Last time I remember hearing that was when Top Gear imploded.

OhmsLawn,

I was recently reminded of the figurative usage of poleaxed. That’s my current favorite.

OhmsLawn,

Over the past few months, we’ve been accelerating our ability to execute outstandingly, make faster decisions, and realize our multi-product ambitions.

Barf.

Massive issues with sleep and desperate for a solution.

I’ve been struggling with sleep issues for over a decade now. My Doctor has prescribed me all sorts of medication, all of which has had many adverse side effects. What I do know that works, is Xanax. My wife was prescribed it for some stress issues and occasionally will give me one so I can finally sleep. Obviously asking my...

OhmsLawn,

Alcohol used to wreck my sleep. I’d come home, dog-tired at 7 PM, have a few (and a few more) drinks, look up and 6 hours had passed.

I ended up burning out, and having to quit both booze and weed. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. Along with all the obvious health, psychological and financial benefits, I sleep amazingly well now.

OhmsLawn,

My intended point is that browsing all is a viable way to find communities. You won’t miss many communities if you browse everything. Then subscribe to what you like, block what you really dislike.

You’re right that all can be overwhelming and distasteful, but at least it really is everything, as opposed to the r/all, which was heavily filtered.

OhmsLawn,

Ah yes.

I suppose if your instance isn’t federated with everyone, that would be an issue.

OhmsLawn,

Soda Bread.

Alternatively, my normal yeast+sourdough. 425g water, 500g flour, 10g salt, 1/4 tsp yeast and whatever starter I’ve fed, or not.

Mix and leave for an hour, 3 stretch-and-folds. Leave it on the counter, or refrigerate overnight. Cut, shape, bake.

I’ve gotten really loose with my shaping these days. I’ll often make 4 little baguettes, a couple rolls and a couple sandwich sized loaves.

Then I freeze half of it, because I don’t want to get fat.

OhmsLawn,

It’s in San Francisco.

I’ve seen it, but hadn’t realized that it was open to visitors.

OhmsLawn,

Yeah, they probably got the money, along with one hell of an eye roll.

You have to wait until the intersection clears before taking off at a four way stop!

F***ing morons in the world! Everyone is so damn impatient that now when I am at at four way stop and turning and my ass end is still in the intersection the other car going straight already decides to take off instead of waiting a micro-second for the intersection to be clear. All sorts of scenarios can happen…a pedestrian...

OhmsLawn,

This often stems from a general breakdown of the right-of-way rotation. At least in my city, if you don’t move quickly, nobody is going to wait to see if you realize that it’s your turn. They’ll just skip you. You learn quickly that if you don’t at least start rolling as your predecessor clears, you end up waiting for an extra rotation at every intersection.

OhmsLawn,

Those are very late season fruit. I wasn’t aware they weren’t available up north. Look for them starting in October, I think.

OhmsLawn,

Apple bananas are freaking amazing. I’m always so happy when we score some at the Asian grocery. That little pop of acidity makes all the difference.

OhmsLawn,

This is always the question that trips me up.

I’m 5 years younger than OP. I work in a municipal transportation power system job (we maintain and control the grid for trains, trolleys, etc.). I’m sure I’m wasting all sorts of effort in my professional life. I have time. I got a lot out of learning Power Automate. However, if you ask me to pick one specific project, I get overwhelmed because I don’t know what’s reasonable.

I don’t know enough to know if my ideas are achievable, or if I’d just be bashing my head against the wall. I don’t know if they’re laughably simple tasks, multimillion-dollar propositions, or Goldilocks ideas that would be perfect to learn a coding language.

OhmsLawn,

By Q1 2025, I should have a full implant-supported denture, replacing my top teeth. I’ve had a partial for almost a year now, as I fussed around, trying to decide how to proceed. I’ll be very glad to be done with this phase.

Then we’ll deal with the bottom ones…

OhmsLawn, (edited )

I just automatically downvote shit like this.

“…legal analyst predicts.”

I don’t disagree, but come on. It’s a filler article.
