URGENT

A longtime internet friend has fallen on hard times. Her husband was the main income source and suffered a massive stroke. She's a Black disabled mom with two kids, and on the whole is a wonderful person who absolutely does not deserve this bullshit that life has thrown at her and her family.

Between the loss of income, a recent rent increase, plus medications for her husband in addition to bills she is now relying on donations to help make ends meet. She's trying to get secondary sources of income but has had a lot of recent setbacks including having to replace their fridge.

White supremacists run Meta, and their algorithms very,, very, very heavily favor cisallohet white Christian abled men. They are treated as a protective class to the point where saying anything against white men will have your account restricted or even zucc'd. I have countless receipts on this, some of which are firsthand.

This is 100% no exaggeration and I've been saying it for years. I've wanted a Meta killer desperately for I don't know how long.

Wrong. We'd still need them but there wouldn't be a stigma on them anymore. Or some sense of urgency to be rid of them, or that needing any kind of medication is something that can be treated as a social problem as opposed to acknowledging that disabilities do indeed exist as real, biological factors.

I'm kinda tired of people talking like this; it's incredibly ableist and I hate it.

Before going on meds I'd do shit like turn on the oven or stove and forget that I had it on.

I'm lucky all I did was ruin a pot and turn a nice loaf of bread into a huge hockey puck.

The weird, mental gymnastics people have done when I say this is incredible. Like if it weren't for society or capitalism I'd have aides or whatever? Why would I do that? Why would I need that?

We're allowed to live alone and be able to manage ourselves. Why have someone live with me when I can just take medication and be able take care of myself?

It feels patronizing. Medication is a mobility aid as valid as wheelchairs and canes. Might as well tell someone they don't need a wheelchair, they could just have someone carry them around all of the time. Maybe we like our freedom? And self-determination? idk

It's desperately funny reading all of these speculative blog posts on why the "Twitter migration to Mastodon was a failure" cause I 100% know what demographic the person voicing their opinion comes from.

And that's white. I'm referring to white folks. Cause I'm deeply frustrated with how much less diversity there is on here than the place that Phony Stark ruined.

We also need to have a conversation on here about how much antisemitism is tolerated in here on a regular basis.

Like we had the chance to be even more diverse and welcoming than birdsite, but nah. For too many that apparently only meant welcoming of the marginalized groups you personally are in.

Anyone not a cis dude is impacted by misogyny, it just takes on different forms. Trans women, trans men, non-binary trans folk, etc. all experience it.

Heck I can even argue that cis gay dudes are also impacted by it to an extent. A chunk of it is how close to femininity the person is seen as being as well as our relation to it. But misogyny is fucked up and complicated, and even the strict gender binary bullshit has its roots in it.

I need to add that I've seen folks trying to argue for "misandry" but the reality is that anything vaguely akin to "misandry" is always misogyny with extra steps. Every fucking time.
