I’m no fan of libertarians anyway. Trump’s hardly one as he’s an obvious fascist. But both Trump and libertarians have no interest in helping anyone but themselves.

Relentless booing aside, my favorite part was when he told crowd -- with zero self awareness -- that they can't let "the worst President in history come back and finish the job" of destroying the country.

@TonyStark I’m pretty sure destroying the country is on the libertarian wish list.

Def true ⬆️
I’m now convinced it’s that + all kinds of cults. The obvious ones, Qanon & ChristoFascists, and all the weird little cults that started for Trump/MAGA all over the country.
The great replacement is a cult
Anti-vax
Nazis
“Patriots” who’re patriots like Timothy McVeigh was a “patriot”
Soros conspiracy cults etc….

TonyStark,
@TonyStark@progressivecafe.social avatar

@Tengrain @RiaResists I’ve seen a couple flip over although it’s hard work to get them there and no guarantees I can say what worked except a lot of patience and a lot of listening and a lot of “well maybe this though” and trying to find agreement. It takes years of work and definitely has not worked on anyone that has a close emotional tie, unfortunately, like a family member.

@Tengrain @TonyStark
I complete agree with that.
You know, I thought we, as a country made more progress than we did, I guess.
That birther bs is the core of who they are. You’re right. And the cults, too lol

Turns out there is nothing libertarian about imprisoning journalists and prosecutors, having legal immunity even for killing your political opponents, sending immigrants to concentration camps, and criminalizing reproductive rights.

Trump isn’t a libertarian — he’s a fascist.

It boggles my mind that the Washington Post knew about the insurrectionist flag at the residence of a Supreme Court "Justice" at the time it was flown -- but didn't tell the public what it knew until years later, the NY Times did report it.

Journalistic malpractice is putting it mildly.

The number of U.S. oil refineries exceeding the EPA's action level for cancer-causing benzene in 2023 was cut in half compared to 2020.

These are the kinds of regulations Trump and his minions want to scrap. The very first executive order of Trump's presidency was to relax regulations governing dumping mine waste into rivers

Elections have consequences.

I cannot get over how many times in recent years the Washington Post had to decide not to share that they knew the Alito household flew an upside-down flag in the immediate aftermath of Jan 6 before reporting it today. https://www.lawdork.com/p/washington-post-bombshell-washington

Trump's team is giving his upcoming bio pic the best possible publicity they could.

@Tengrain thinks that even his cultists might sneak in to gaze lovingly at His Holy Visage. I'm not 100% on that theory, but I can't say for sure it's wrong.

Somewhere, Barbra Streisand is laughing:

As ‘The Apprentice’ Seeks Cannes Sale, Trump Team Sends Cease and Desist Letter to Block Film’s Release (EXCLUSIVE)

Attorneys for Donald Trump have sent a cease and desist letter to the filmmakers behind “The Apprentice” in an effort to block its U.S. sale and release. It warns the team behind the film not to pursue a distribution deal, according to two people who have read the letter. “The Apprentice,” which looks at Trump’s early years as a real estate developer and his relationship with Roy Cohn, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this week.

[…] The movie, which was independently produced, stars Sebastian Stan as Trump and Jeremy Strong as Cohn. It presents a damning portrait of the former president as an ethically compromised, philanderer who stiffs contractors and cuts deals with the mob to get his buildings completed. It includes other controversial details, including a scene where Trump rapes his first wife, Ivana, and depicts him abusing amphetamines to lose weight, as well as undergoing liposuction and plastic surgery.

He keeps drawing attention to this movie, and now it is bound to be boffo box office (and we wager that he’ll brag about THAT and/or demand a cut). And his base will flock to it to live vicariously for an hour as The Donald.

Ewww, gross.

Conspiracy theorists exist in many planes of expertise and essentially prey on vulnerable people.

Birth control medication has potential side effects, but so does anything else you take and the risks are extremely low comparatively.

The “too dangerous” idea is a myth. Birth control is safe. Birth control is a good thing.
