@ravenbait Good, int they?

Makes sense: a more formal and tighter arrangement for long trips.

The ones on this model are right down underneath, to make space for the the pocket presumably, but the extra clip the pocket brings comes in handy for securing the strap in a sloppy but OK way

@Tippon you can use https://osmuk.org/cadastral-parcels/ as an overlay and work off of property boundaries. It's as close to perfect as you can really get using public layers, and it's becoming a bit of a standard round my patch for realignment jobs.

I use it for aligning Bing layers to cope with the tilt, and it's still handy as an overlay after that for jobs like chopping terrace rows into individual houses

Considering handlebar covers/mittens for doing updates in cold weather. They're quite pricey though. Would they help?

It's fairly slow travel, with frequent stops near the footway=sidewalk to record data on the phone. Are they any good for that sort of thing, if I use them with a pair of insulated fingerless gloves underneath? @bikes @mastobikes @cycling

How would you map a refill shop on OSM? Those places you can go with containers and buy by weight.

A marvelous ant in Micrographia.(1665) The ant gave Robert Hooke a lot of trouble since she wouldn't quit moving around as he tried to draw her. He ended up dipping her in brandy, ... though he does say that she woke back up and ran away. Gotta love this girl for surviving and escaping!

He supposes that the ant was drunk... But it probably was simply deprived of O2. I've seen ants who fell into water revive in a similar way when their spiracles (pores) dry off and they can breathe again.

That said, all of her friends in her age group use iMessageThings so "just replace email program with bubbles chat thing" might be a more reasonable goal, if it's sensible at all @delta

She's kind of change averse too, gets upset and confused easily, so anything different and new has to work straight away without any hitches @caregivers

This isโ€ฆ extremely, catastrophically bad. Like "stop using Google Maps" bad.

One of my primary reasons for originally ditching the iPhone is that Apple Maps didn't have transit directions in its early incarnation! Google Maps hasn't technically removed transit directions now, but they're now so incredibly useless that the only accurate way to describe the situation is "Google Maps no longer has a transit directions feature".

Details:
https://universeodon.com/@siderea/111172757173302219

EDIT: They fixed it

achadwick,
@achadwick@urbanists.social avatar

โ€ฆ they're sort of OK though?

@mcc /e/OS bundles (the proprietary but seemingly privacy aware) Magic Earth, and I like the way that does transit and bike directions.

Never really got on with Organic Maps 'cos I couldn't get the TTS working๐Ÿ™ƒ I should give it another go really.

There's ร–ffi as well, but that's more a planning app that can do routing and has tube maps and stuff. I has some sort of experimental bike carriage mode, cool

I wonder what happened to the (?) donkey I saw having a nice rest and a graze at the foot of South Park on my way in. It didn't turn up at the gathering, I guess St Clements was a bit daunting, what with the heavy motor traffic and narrow pavements. I wish I'd taken a photo.

Urbanism is streets you can get a nice donkey down safely ๐Ÿซ

We built a following of 5400 weird music friends on Tw***er over the course of 15 years. We currently have a following of less than 200 - don't hesitate to direct anyone who might be interested to our feed.

achadwick,
@achadwick@urbanists.social avatar

@alexanderhay @ajroach42 @avantmusicnews it's often used on Xtwitter to avoid weirdos turning up in your mentions who searched for hot topics. It's a lot less needed for that because search is opt in at its most intrusive. Also it's federated (patchier, aligned with whoever your home instance's people are watching, that's it, that's the "algorithm")

What we do have on the fedi is keyword filters to hide posts. Starring letters out breaks that, so it's actively counterproductive

ClintonAnderson, to cycling

Hey folks

There has to be a community out here, people who hack and mod their bike trailers, right?

I have an Aosom Bike Cargo Trailer, and so far it's working great, but I want to make some mods.... The zippers should absolutely have 2 pulls each, so that they can open/close from/to either end...... And the "clip" that holds the handle up is for sure not very strong, so I either want to replace or reinforce it....

I can't be the only fella out here thinking of this kinda stuff, right?

So, wha cha got?

achadwick,
@achadwick@urbanists.social avatar

@ClintonAnderson Maybe it's worth folks sharing in @fedibikes @cycling and similar to get the ball rolling. I've done a few to my Carry Freedom over the years:

  • Extra holes for the flatbed for more options

  • Bar tape on the supplied handcart handle instead of the BMX style handgrip

  • Secure the rubber caps over the axle QRs with a pair of zip ties

  • Modernize the trailer hitch to one that doesn't unscrew itself
