for filling watering jugs, I'm trying to find some simple float nozzle thingy that would allow a few jugs to be filling from the rain barrel while you are watering plants with one or two (used 1gal milk jugs) but I'm not finding such a thing for less than $32 each fancy fuel nozzle, that seems to have a spring/trigger thing. It's going to fill with algae and get clogged with junk / a pain to clean if it's anything more complicated than a floating ball in a slotted tube
@enobacon depends on the spot I usually check them every few days. But they can last a few weeks if it's been raining. I would say about once a week on average.
@capntransit@regionalplan that first picture is so great. The woman especially just exudes office enu. Like she's so tapped out, probably an introvert that doesn't want to talk to anyone for the rest of the day.
@benroyce That beautiful! I feel like I've seen one like that before.
In college I took an intro to astronomy and found out how frequently we get meteorites and it's way more than u would think!
@mina@benroyce oh man that would be so cool if they turned off the street lights at midnight. I have to drive well over an hr to get a sky that dark. They are passing Dark Sky regulations on the state level here in Massachusetts. But it will take yrs before that has any real effect.
@meganL@cycling wow, I applied to go to UC Davis and thought it was cool because it was the 'bike school'. Reading ur posts it's more like oh, it's warm and flat so people bike, which is not the same as a biking utopia.
I ended up at Santa Cruz. Hilly and cold in comparison.
@meganL@cycling the best in North America is probably Montreal. But Not Just Bike just made a clap back video about how poorly Montreal stand up to European cities. I don't think we have a good infrastructure anywhere in North America.
But I think we're at an inflexion point and a lot is going to be built out soon.
Not only do EV owners save money for themselves, they also help thousands of Americans save money on energy bills by balancing demand on the electric grid. Consumers will save even more as more people drive EVs and the U.S. produces more renewable energy.
I don’t recommend replacing things just for the sake of it, but EVs are the smart way to go if you’re looking.
@CatHerder@TonyStark for the life of the ownership they are cheaper because less maintaince and fuel. Consumer Reports has articles on this. Also you can by used.
Also all cars and car infrastructure are expensive. But that's another conversation.
@GreenFire@TonyStark@CatHerder for the record folks, I didn't say eliminate cars, I said eveything about them is expensive. And I live in the US, own a hybrid and work in transportation advocacy.
In my state alone we loose one person a day to road deaths and it cost the state 6 billion a year property damage. ( the second figure i'd have to dig around for but i'm pretty sure I read that in the last year)
Like I said, it's a different converstation.
@TonyStark@GreenFire@CatHerder yeah, I think the 'War on Cars' is about the same as ACBA. Pithy shorthand for a nuanced conversation about the fabric of our society.
Personnally I'm looking forward to the the Aptera going into production. Solar-powered 3 wheel that supposed to have a 1,000 mile range!
