While touring #Andalusia in #Spain, I spotted a gleaming tower. Intrigued, I looked it up and found out it was the #Gemasolar Thermosolar Plant which can supply power to 27,500 homes and uses molten salt heat storage technology to keep generating power when there's no sun. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gemasolar_Thermosolar_Plant - Perhaps #Italy could do with a few similar plants. #energy
@alexproe There is this which isn't giving the installed rooftop solar stats per se, I think, but certainly makes a nice comparison on how good each country is with respect to its encouragement & support for people to install solar panels on their rooftops.
#Seville is a lovely city. Lots to see, do, eat and drink. Am here for a few days while touring #Andalicia My first time in mainland #Spain and I like it a lot so far. #tourism
@alexproe The current electric vehicle programme is not sustainable. The only real way forward is some kind of rolling inductive charging. This is being installed under U.K. roads without official confirmation. This explains the excessive number of road closures at night. The inductors are one metre grids with brass handles each side. I saw one being lowered in the ground. Look out for road signs saying 'Installing technology overnight'
@alexproe@Lazarou I truly hope for Ireland and Scotland to at last break free and re-join the EU. This is from a Yank’s limited information. But it seems right from all I’ve heard.
@GottaLaff FYI Gorsuch prior to SCOTUS. Don't know if it's genuine but looks like it. Via Birdsite. Might be an idea to email it to Gorsuch before (if) SCOTUS hears appeal on Colorado decision to exclude Trump from Republican primary.
Did I mention one of the best things about #Mastodon is having the ability to #edit posts?! That alone is a good reason for leaving the former bird site. #hashtags are a wee bit fiddly though. PS Posting via the #vivaldibrowser desktop version is a total doddle with the side menu feature.
I recently swapped from Google's #Chrome browser (over #privacy and #performance concerns) on desktop and mobile to the #Vivaldi browser. So far, so good. And Vivaldi plays well with Google Docs. Battery on mobile seems to be lasting longer too. I still haven't tried out Vivaldi's #Workspace feature.
@ramon@alexproe Thanks for the advice, but I have done that. The issue is that the iCloud servers throw repeated errors as the Vivaldi mail client hits the server. It may, eventually, taper off, or it might require a code change in Vivaldi to slow the rate to the point where iCloud will not throw an error. Anyway, it's no big deal, as I said. I normally manage my mail via Apple Mail, as that application integrates well with my CRM software.
@ramon@alexproe The problem is none of what you assume here. I get an error on "character 509" as it's trying to sync the inbox under IMAP. Not sure what's up with that. I need to do some more digging to see if I can figure out what might be causing the error.
