There was a recent survey in about and whether are more likely to buy a product with AI features.

Turns out, there is barely anybody looking for in products, even 12% said its definitely a reason to look for another product (compared to 6% reason to buy).

@Anachron I don‘t know if I hate AI, have fear of what it could become, am fed up of the hype, think it‘s just going to be used for ads&tracking … but I do not want to have products with AI that work just fine without it.

Notifications on phones are a double edged sword. There are times I want notifications and times I outright NEED notifications. During those times I only want some things getting through. It seems like the tools required are there to make the experience livable, but tuning it to work the way I want is not an easy task. I use an Android phone, and there's the "Digital Wellbeing" section allows control of notifications during specific times, but I feel this should be part of the app configuration.

@mike hmm I am more leave me alone type. My wife‘s smartphone is constantly ping pong ring rang ronging. That would drive me crazy! Only calls and (instant) messages come thru in my setup. Everything else gets silenced, including the f*cking M$ Teams (I use the same iphone for business and private stuff). Was a happy google-free Android user for years, but dropped that and went iPhone as I didn‘t want to buy my son a separate phone (he got my google-free Android Oneplus6).

@mike I completely understand. When I was younger (like to think I am still, but the calendar is killing me), I wanted to be „in touch“. Now I just want to have a little bit of time for thinking, where nobody (or something) is „notifying“ me.

@hl Happened multiple times to me … and I actually did claim it (partially) as work time, as I thought about the problem. Usually during working hours I do not even get time to think …

    @timbray This post really hit a spot with right. Right now in a very f**** up situation and I am not talking about current wars going on. Personal issues, family issues, work stress ... seems all to come down in the last months. Really having a tough time keeping it all together. What gets me up sometimes is also music ... or maybe cooking for the kids ... stuff like that ground me for an hour or two.

    Habe nach einigen Monaten Nichtnutzung mein iPad Air 2 von 2014 mal wieder gestartet und bekomme immer noch Updates für das Ding.

    Das ist eine der Sachen, die mich an Apple-Kram (als sonst skeptisch Gegenüberstehenden) wirklich begeistern.

    @thomas meine Frau hat auch ein iPad, der m.E. über 6J ist. Immer noch alles aktualisiert und mein NAS von ist 10J alt, bekommt immer noch updates. Irgendwie geht es … nur und co bekommen es nicht hin.

    Are statistic cookies not persistent? I close a task and it says like [2/4], save the file, open it up … still the same so ok. Some time later I stumble upon this and get [0/0] although the state of the subtasks didn‘t change.

    @ctietze Yes, last time it happened I also checked in fundamental-mode and it was matching. No idea, I have no custom hooks in my config https://codeberg.org/anonimno/emacs/src/branch/master/config.org. What sort of custom hook do you have?
