After a professional diagnosis of autism some autistic people can doubt their diagnosis. Years of internalized ableism and doubts from others can contribute to a feeling of being an imposter.

Imposter syndrome isn’t discussed as much in the community but is something many struggle with.

@ahbon @actuallyautistic I have to admit that this part in Devon’s book stumped me — I had to put it down and walk away. I was crushed that I couldn’t do it (the book asks you to make the list and then refer back to it as you read further). I processed this stumbling block with another Au friend who had no trouble finding their said five things. I haven’t picked the book back up yet. I appreciate everyone’s varied answers here — you all may help me try it once more.

Here are the hens I am keeping from the babies that hatched in June! The other 6 siblings went yesterday to a neighbor on the edge of town who needed roosters in addition to more hens. I love them at this sweet age (6 weeks old). 😍🐓

Their level of gaslighting and bullying just floors me. They are grifters, so they accuse other people have been grifters. (Just one example. I’m too tired to list them all!)

I am pro-trees, always, but this idea is ludicrous. Planting and growing trees requires planning and management and is labor-intensive. The US forest service has a history of absolutely doing it wrong, planting trees as a monoculture, which promotes fires rather than mitigating them. 🙄😬

@seachanger Agreed. I do think we need to plan for and plant trees. There is already the “tree city” designation (which I don’t know much about, tbh). Dems could be pro-tree and be feet-on-the-ground about it, consulting actual tree experts and all that!

In the State Park Service in Florida in the 1990s, we started a labor-intensive tree replanting program, patterning the plantings over multiple years after the way real trees grow.

The forest service laughed at us.

Within a (few) days I'm gonna do a full database clean to remove all deleted posts, banned accounts etc. Basically all garbage that's been collected overtime

Word to the wise, if you canceled your Netflix account any time within the last few months you might want to go back and make sure it's actually cancelled.

I cancelled Netflix two months ago and I just found out that it's still active. So I deactivated the account AGAIN.

Next I'm going to call my credit card company and dispute the bill. This is straight up bullshit.

@Mrfunkedude thank you. It’s become a pervasive, insidious business model, I believe. Any real humans working on the issue can throw up their hands and say, “It’s policy!” Or, “It’s the algorithm!” and be waived of any agency or power in helping the customer.

My former gym has done the same thing to me this year. I cannot wait to vehemently reverse the next ACH with them (which should be the last…)

@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics believe me, unpacking all of this in my 50s while not be able to access a clinician who understands late diagnoses in AFAB folks is not easy. I can function in the world, but barely. I work extremely part-time in a profession I’ve had for 30+ years. What gets me through is my ND friends. I only figured it out because of them. We had already flocked together. Now we know why! 2/2

@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic last comment for now: along with unpacking my autism and unmasking, thanks to GenZ, I was also able to realize that I am non-binary and demi/asexual, and that has been amazingly healing. I feel like I’m finally honoring that little 10 year old child who was smart, weird, and wanted to be a boy. 40 years of trying to fit into being female is slowly peeling away along with all the masking. It’s painful but good, I hope. 3/3

Usually no and no. The few times where it was my actual fault, I actively changed and never did whatever it was again. I don’t think this is the norm, though.

I am stable for the time being, but a rapid disease progression in my 40s had me losing my vision and most reading capabilities, especially small text (phones and horrendously, most paper books).

K, so that’s fucked to begin with. Having acknowledged that —

The one and only thing other than gloves in my car kit that is worth a damn is a tourniquet. If you want to carry a single life saving device for trauma, that would be it. I have a few in my truck, and keep one in my hunting pack, and one in my work bag.

I carry (and use in the ER and on the ambulance) the CAT by North American Rescue.

@mcnado I had been carrying scissors, a tourniquet, basic first aid supplies and plasters for sucking chest wounds… (my ex owned three guns). I probably need to replenish that pack and make sure it’s accessible. 😔
