I have reached the point where I'm almost certain I will buy a Brompton. But there is one question I just can't find an answer to. So help me out:

Is the seat post in any way fastened to the bike? Or can you just pull it all the way out?

That would make locking it in a high bike theft city like Oslo a rather nervy experience. And I really don't want to have to bring the seat post with me everywhere.

An old friend is buried today. About my age. Old, but not ancient. Makes an already depressing October even more depressing. It's the thing about reaching your mid fifties. It's mostly downhill from here.

After a year and a half of use, today I came to the realization that I simply do not enjoy posting photography to Glass anymore. Too little interaction, too few people, too little community. So I said goodbye.

That leaves me with Pixelfed and Tumblr as the two platforms I use. I could do with one more. Not Instagram. Not Flickr. Not 500px or EyeEm. Is there really anywhere else?

En av ulempene med å følge 2,3K kontoer, er at de norske (og svenske og danske) folka jeg følger, helt forsvinner i feeden min. Har noen i lister, men andre skulle jeg bare hatt strømmende sånn rolig forbi.

Har landa på at jeg skal lage meg en egen konto for å følge bare nordisk-språklige tutere. Og da er spørsmålet: Hvilken instans skal jeg bruke til den? Hva er nordens beste instans?

I tried Threads. I hated it. Not because of the privacy issues, though they are bad enough. And there was a lot of good photography.

But my months on Pixelfed has thought me, even more than Mastodon has, how much I hate algorithms.

Show me what the people I follow post. In the order it was posted. That's it. That's all I want.
