just watched a video about the lack of bicycles in hollywood productions. e.g. there are post apocalypse shows where there's no fuel or they can't use engines for other reasons, and the characters are shown walking or riding a horse. they never try bikes even though it's the most popular mode of transportation on the planet. Daryl from TWD on a bicycle? uncool. if a protagonist is doing it, it's a comedy. riding a bicycle is seen as a ridiculous thing to do unless you're a child. I am stunned.

Everything from casual remarks that "it's not a means of transport, it's just a children's toy". All the way to, "frankly all these cyclists are just getting in everyone's way because they like playing with kids toys, like a bunch of paedophiles, so it's for the best if they get run-over."

Wife's phone in for screen replacement, so I lent her mine. In the meantime, back to my trusty old 6.1

This phone was released in 2018 (!!) and is still supported by the amazing maintainers working with @LineageOS

In fact, I have the option to sideload 20, which is Android 13 🤯

Admittedly the phone runs a tad slow.

Once in a while I have about a software system that keep nagging at me, and over time it usually becomes clearer why something has been bothering me.

Tonight’s moment of clarity is that there is a fundamental problem with the , and it is that SERVERS CONTINUE TO OWN MY IDENTITY ON THE NETWORK. They may not be commercial servers, but they are still someone else’s computers over which I have little control.

Moving between servers is a high-friction activity: I lose all my posts and all my friends. Sure, I can reimport those lists in my new home, but my friends would have to rely on a forwarding note I left in my previous server to find me. I sure hope that old server won’t block my friends or go out of service, because then they’ll never find me.

Made some changes to the website over the weekend. Slightly improved header that takes up less vertical space on the page. I never really liked the centralised logo and nav menu.

A lot of my navigation pages are wide and left aligned these days, but my individual content pages are a similar pattern, just with a bit wider content.
