@majorlinux $100 bet that we go full circle and folks start subbing to cab/sat. It'll be cheaper. Or these media companies will just invite a bunch of new torrent sites to emerge. Either way, the cost of 27 different streaming services is just unsustainable so they will keep losing viewers.

@dhrystone I use Obsidian for almost everything these days, I migrated off 3 separate apps into Obsidian. It's why Apple's Journal app wasn't really on my radar. So, same boat. :D

@dhrystone I have my vault on my server so I'm not to worried about having a lock. The daily reminder thing, I get that. I just treat it as if it was an old school paper journal. Some days I don't need to be reminded that I was livid about something in 2017. :D

I mostly use Obsidian for documents and correlation of those docs..
I'm probably using it poorly but fits my use case. I'll check out Day One. It looks interesting.

@dhrystone I've used my 15 Pro Max for the last week, it's been cold as ice 98% of the time EXCEPT when using Instagram. I can scroll for hours using Ivory, I can play the 3 games I have installed and it's just fine. I think iOS 17 wasn't even close to baked and as far as Instagram, I'm about to leave that trash heap. Not because it heats up the phone but because it's a lens into the worst in humanity and you can't get rid of reels. I just want to see the folks I follow. Not allowed though. :(

@dhrystone I might have thought about switching back to Android this time, I just can't do the bubbly grade 7 interface. I carried both for years but since I WFH now, I don't want 2 phones so I stuck with what gave me long-term support. The only reason I bought the 15, is USB-C and a bigger screen this time. Otherwise, I'd have stuck with my 13 for a good while longer.

@dhrystone I'm old school so I have about 300GB of music I keep on my phone, I'm not too fond of most streaming services. I like the 40GB transfer rate USB3 affords me. And except for my Airpod Pros, everything else I have is USB-C .... and the Airpods wirelessly charge. I just wanted to simplify. I get what you're saying though. It was just a personal choice for me.

@dhrystone On Windows, it's MusicBee or Audirvana. When I'm using my Macbook it's Audirvana or iTunes ... Audirvana allows for 2 installs so I have it on both Win/Mac .. it's mainly for the really good FLAC support that I bought the app. If I'm on the work rig it's Tauon Music Box.

Zedge on Android charges $5 a year to get rid of ads. It's dumb to pay that for a wallpaper app, but I do it because I use it a ton.

On iOS, that isn't transferable, so you have to pay again. Not a big deal, I thought. But it is. $20 a year for the same and the app is worse.

Now that's an Apple Tax. lol. ffs

Okay, Todoist officially broke on Linux. At least my install of it. I need a good, open source, todo application that syncs across platforms (has an iOS app), and has a nice design. Preferably not NextCloud.

@thelinuxcast You don't want to hear it but I use Obsidian. It has a nice iOS client and it works on all the computers I have, MacOS, Linux and Windows when I'm using it.
