I don’t think any of us really understand how quickly collapse can happen:

> About 85% of the country expected to see highs of at least 40°C
> Almost 40% of the country’s dams below 20%
> 40% are between 20 and 50%.
> Mexico City (Population 22.51 million) forced to reduce water supply as reservoirs that feed city dry up.
> Stores running out of mineral water.

@peterdutoit there will be tens of millions of people migrating around the world due to climate change and we are not in any way close to prepared for it.

When I was an undergraduate at , students also occupied Hamilton Hall. The administration didn’t call in NYPD and we didn’t have the shitshow that’s playing out on campus now. Hard to imagine giving money to Columbia after this.

Joe Biden joined the auto industry strikers on the picket line -- one in a series of acts that should make people realize that he is by far the most progressive president in recent memory. He doesn't get credit for any of this stuff.

It's fair to say that the Democrats are incompetent at getting their message out.

It's even more fair to say that Big Journalism has consistently downplayed the very real achievements of this administration.

bucachowchow,
@bucachowchow@mstdn.party avatar

@dangillmor corporate media will never portray progressivism in a positive light. Even now they won’t give social security it’s due.

It’s odd enough that there aren’t any 7:00 games on the east coast, but what’s the deal with the Diamondbacks playing two different teams on the same day? 🤔 #MLB #Diamondbacks

bucachowchow,
@bucachowchow@mstdn.party avatar

@Galley they had yesterday’s game in NY rained out so they moved it to today. But AZ was scheduled to play in CHI today to start a series, so they moved Mondays series opener to Thursday when both AZ and CHI had off days.

As promised, TWO SERIOUS TROUBLES AT THE SAME TIME -- this second episode of the day addresses the Georgia RICO indictment. Why is it weird? Why is Georgia's RICO weird? What's going to happen? Josh, Ken, and guest Georgia attorney Andrew Fleischman explore it.

Could you please help me find some folklore?

The Brothers Grimm recorded the story "Der süße Brei" about a magic porridge pot.
When instructed, it produces food until told to stop. One day, the owner forgets the magic word and the village is engulfed in porridge.

If you are NOT German or English-speaking, does your culture have a similar cautionary tale?
If so, what foodstuff is it about?

Thanks gang, boosts appreciated.

bucachowchow,
@bucachowchow@mstdn.party avatar

@Edent there was a children’s book about a woman with a similar thing with pasta - maybe a magic pasta pot - and it too went awry and pasta filled the house and maybe town (I can’t quite recall.). Titled something like Mama Strega.
