Unusually for me, I'm going to be working in public from (almost) day 1 of a project: a runtime for peer-to-peer web apps.

This project I wrote 7 years ago is actually pretty cool. I think it deserved more love than it got.

At $9.81 per website, it might be worth hiring one of these LLMs for cheap added security checks. I mean, if you don't some kid will.

C (or zig) developers, is there a portable version of strptime somewhere that can handle timezones? I'd rather not depend on glibc for this.

caolan,
@caolan@hachyderm.io avatar

@janl I've never explored the PHP standard library. Perhaps I should!

I'll probably end up writing some hacky solution using libc's strptime and just parsing the offset myself...

I once saw a project maintainer dismiss sqlite because "it's just grepping a file". 'Real' databases must just be magic to them.

I'm inviting a little randomness into my work schedule by seeking serendipity on the fediverse:

I'm looking for a small project starting late Feb/Mar - a couple of days a week at most. If you could use a bit of help for a competitive day rate, say hello 👋

Dear Mastodon hive mind, I've lost a link and it's driving me nuts. It was an article about how we used to organise our sites differently using personal taxonomies for pages instead of chronological posts. Do you remember this article?

Just finished the first episode of 8 Out of 10 Bats and I have experienced a strange alternate universe where the BBC allows Autumnwatch to mention the sustainability crisis. It's pretty good.

Organic Maps is a really polished and streamlined OpenStreetMap interface for Android (and iOS). If you find OsmAnd too clunky maybe give this a try.

On my run yesterday, the whole of was blanketed in smoke from deliberate burning on the moors. The air quality index hit 193 in Hunters Bar and I still feel short of breath today.

A city of over half a million people was subjected to this pollution so some posh pustule can kill birds for fun.
