Sigh.

The update to #macOS 14.5 "Sonoma" has been as unpleasant as expected.

After downloading many gigabytes, macOS got stuck for more than HALF AN HOUR, doing some undisclosed "Preparing".
This is just BS, I checked what happened, and a secret Apple tool named "UpdateBrainService" was slowly crunching away with a lousy 99% CPU. And that on one of the fastest Macs ever been built.

Really, #Apple, that is the best you can do?

And now, the Mac is crippled by dozens of "mdworker_shared" processes, because for EVERY SINGLE macOS update, as small as it is, Spotlight needs to reindex ALL DATA, slowing down macOS for many more hours.

Tim, you should be ashamed, really.

And now the real fun begins, because in the next days, we need to find out what NEW bugs Apple has added to macOS 14.5.

Is 17.4.1 really 17.4.1? Or what?

This one is laughable, but it shows the complete lack of quality control from Apple these days.

And yes, that one has been around at least for three years, we had reported it, but hey.

Frankly, the new "Wallpaper" "System Setting" in #macOS14 #Sonoma is the most confusing piece of horrible interface design I have ever seen.

And that is compared to the rest of the utterly confusing and ugly "System Settings" which is an entire textbook full of interface violations, inconsistencies, and how-not-to's in its own.

Sigh.

Oh dear #Apple, could you spare a few bucks to hire a human interface designer for once, maybe? Pretty please?

Seriously, Tim, if you are not interested in macOS anymore, place it in a new separate company that may actually work on it, and fix the bugs...

Brilliant!

NSLocalizedString() no longer works in macOS 14 beta 3.

Folks, don't use these beta versions yet, wait until #Apple fixes at least the most glaring problems.

#macOS14 #Sonoma is the #bugfest we all feared it would be.

After installing the release version, I now get this refreshing nice display in the ugly "System Settings".

I have no idea what that means, or what is causing this, of course.

It has been busy for 30 Minutes now, I guess it is time for lunch for me.

I took this photo 1998 in Las Vegas, in the Hilton, for the Star Trek Experience.

When I set up my camera on the tripod, a bunch of bulky security guards came to me, and I was scared as hell!

But they just told me NOT to take any photos of their slot machines. Everything else was fine.

And then they asked me if I needed them to cordon off some space and the stairways, so I could take some photos with no people on them.

LOL

Wow, #Xcode 15.3 and #macOS 14.4.1 are such a weird dumpster fire of strange bugs and problems.

Merging the AppKit and UIKit low-level system frameworks is not going all too well, obviously.

That error message in Xcode is catastrophically ridiculous, really.

It indicates yet another serious bug in Apples own private frameworks.

And yes, File Sharing speed in #macOS 14 beta 3 is slower than a floppy drive again.

As every year.

I wonder why they simply can't leave the working code in place for once?

And I really hope they fix it until the first release this time, not like last year.

That is pretty cool when you need to search your #NAS for a certain spreadsheet...

Oh come on, #Apple, how about some bugfixes and software improvements?
