The world is broken because poor boys and girls are spending HUGE bank on their Proms that makes rich people Weddings, Bat Mitzvahs, and Quinceañeras from the 70s and 80s look like trash. How much money are people wasting that they don't have on one night out? Even middle-class people really shouldn't try to keep up with this kind of extravagance. It's really amazing but I sure hope there's a Big Bucks Sponsor of these Nights to Remember. Most weddings aren't as lavish as 2024 Prom was, no?

You miss that fact that primates share their bananas with the members of their troop. Rich people share their money with their multigenerational family dynasty. No extremely rich person besides Scrooge McDuck keeps all their money to themselves without adding it to the wealth of the family and descendants just like troops of apes, monkeys, and primates do—they're just not sharing it with you. The logic of this thing is terrible and both profoundly stupid and also hella manipulative AF.

I am all for green energy, I wish we could replace our total energy consumption with green alternatives right now. Unfortunately at this point we can’t

Our energy use is only gonna increase and with hypes like AI it’s even worse, and while we need to keep working on switching to alternatives. Let’s not resort to drastic measures like mining & burning even more brown coal

No matter what your art form is, there's some VERY tough competition out there. Being competent used to be good enough. If someone in your area needed to hire a scribe or a painter, you and a handful of others were the candidates.

But with, urbanisation, transportation, mass media and labour specialisation, you're competing with WAY more people. I imagine that even trade workers face tougher competition now than they once did, because mobility is much better and a single person with a vehicle can serve a whole region instead of just a neighbourhood.

Anyone wondering what wax worms look like (as they start working into an empty hive), here's a good photo. Your easiest fix -- especially in a small hive--is to freeze the frames, which kills all the eggs and larvae, and hope bees move in quickly! A large, healthy hive will keep out wax moths.
