Am I crazy or is there literally no way to set up a passkey for an Apple account on anything besides Apple Keychain?

I've looked everywhere to delete my passkey or create a new one, but I can't find anywhere or any docs on how to do it.

I want to set up my passkey in 1Password so I can sign into non-Safari browsers (something I do all the time) without finding my phone, scanning the QR code, and waiting like 5 seconds for it to work. Username and pass are easier here 🙁

@matt Hmm... maybe @roustem knows!

16 years after the DiSo Project¹ kicked off² to turn WordPress blogs into identity hubs of a vast, open, and decentralized social web, ActivityPub (the successor to ActivityStrea.ms) has now landed in core³.

This is huge for the fediverse! 🥳

Congrats @pfefferle!

I am happy to announce that I am now officially part of the Mastodon core team, as CTO of Mastodon gGmbH (the non-profit developing the project).

Thank you @gargron for trusting me!

In this role, I will provide technical direction for the project, overview the infrastructure and streamline the contributing experience, as I have been doing since the start of the year.

@renchap Nice! Congrats!

This is working exactly as designed. Pay for reach, then get compensated the more views your rack up. This is profiteering in the information wars.

Can you imagine the size of the checks X creators will be screenshotting and showing off in a month?

Spotify's rumored prompt-based AI playlist feature has big Beats Music energy… https://techcrunch.com/2023/10/02/spotify-spotted-developing-ai-generated-playlists-created-with-prompts/ (Spotify code uncovered by @chrismessina)

Today I hit 15K followers on Threads, about 95K less than I had on Twitter, and about 6K more than I have on here.

Worth tracking because — while the media likes to talk about Threads's struggles — it shouldn't be counted out, especially with federation on the horizon.

@chrishazfun TBD. The Threads UI is really nice. I may also migrate this account to mastodon.social.

chrismessina,
@chrismessina@mastodon.xyz avatar

@o_simardcasanova @chrismessina exactly. It took Twitter 17 years to turn into X, and already people are saying Threads is dead. That's not how social media works, folks.

Yo folks: do desktop widgets offer options from both the Mac and iOS versions of an app for you? Also for apps you only have installed on iOS?

Check my screenshots: 1st one has 2Do for both iOS and Mac. 2nd one shows Bear for both platforms, as well as Best Buy, Blendle, and Blinkist, which I only have on my iPhone.

Does this seem weird? Seems weird to me.

@chartier Yes, several apps from iOS that aren't installable on macOS. It's very odd...

Hashtags arrive on Bluesky... via API anyway. Interesting implementation.

"there are two kinds of tags supported, twitter-style (inline) and tumblr style (outside the text)"

"the inline tags are via richtext facets. the outside tags are via a tags array. there's no need to duplicate between them or sync them; they serve different UI purposes"

"they are both used for indexing/discovery"
