Normies don't buy a Mac or PC and think, "Hmm... Let's see. Which operating system should I install?"

In fact, many people don't even think of the OS or consider that they have any choice in the matter. It just is.

My brother was recently in Japan and picked me up the quirkiest little computer from a shop! I love it so much. I have never seen a circular track pad!

I hate to say it, but i'm really not impressed with this Thinkpad X1 Extreme.

Brand new, i have the nvidia GPU disabled, not using bluetooth, not using speakers, just doing light coding, nothing CPU intensive..

And i've been at this coffee shop for 2 hours, and getting this :(

@RL_Dane well that's the wild part. I have my TLP setting scaling the CPU way down. I'm removing TLP and trying it regular power save mode and we'll see

On a scale of 1 to Drupal, how janky is it to create a index on a text field like this?

Using a prefix index, as all I care about is the first 10 characters of the field for lookup purposes

@codemonkeymike Not a matter of jank, but if it's the right tool for the job. If that table has a lot of reads and less frequent writes, it makes sense to me.

@codemonkeymike Not sure if Apple, but… when mine was out of warranty on a whim I took it to Apple to get a cost to replace the battery. The service tech said, “No cost, it’s a defect”, and replace it and the keyboard for free.
