@sass@dave Yes, selling domains was one them. I think if Threads follows through with full two way AP federation that's definately a blow for AT. I'm also skeptical about ATs decentralization model. I think when the well starts to run dry you'll see ads pushed out on BlueSky.
#activitypub The Podcast Index ActivityPub bridge now properly handles Mastodon "authorized fetch". If you had trouble following a podcast from an authorized fetch enabled instance, please cancel that follow and try again.
This may also resolve other sporadic follow issues from Sharkey/Misskey instances. Testing from people on those platforms would be welcome.
#activitypub It seems like we will need to define a Podcast ActivityStreams object type. I’ve been trying to see if we can just transmute a podcast into an Audio or Video object type. But the loss of fidelity is so high. I think a dedicated object type is going to be pretty necessary.
#psa Our main db server is being “warm migrated” by Linode to a new data center. They said it will be “30 seconds to 1 minute of down time” post move. Hold on to your butts.
"On Bluesky, server choice doesn’t affect what content you see. [...] A focus on the global conversation:" [1]
Already lost me. The local first model is the best part of ActivityPub to me. I don't want to have a conversation with all of humanity. I don't think humans are built to handle that.
@dave but the local model is more easily solved because the challenges and participating actors are far fewer. It’s supporting those communities that do want the global conversation, but without all the spam and abuse, that provides the biggest challenge. One that cannot currently be served by the AP model until it has the kinds of user-generated filters that Blue seems focused on.
