🧵short thread- "Grandpa Don"

1. I had an absolutely delightful day yesterday being "Grandpa Don" to 2 Burmese refugee teens. Their family arrived 4 weeks ago after a tough trip delayed 3 days in Dubai by crazy storm. I met at airport with their USTie, my Burmese friend I met 6 yrs ago. The kids adopted me. Parents seem thrilled at that. Girl 15, boy 13. Nice apartment, no car, no place to go hang out. We gave the family jackets, blankets, pillows when sleeping on floor in⤵️

Just for fun I took the %drop so far today and extrapolated that % per day. Worth a penny on June 26. His 78.8 million shares will be worth less than what he owes in judgements in under 10 days. Not only does the grift fail to save his sorry butt, it also fleeces his true believers of billions that just evaporate. Some will have picked up a few bucks, but it's like passing a roach around; some get a good puff but at the end it's all gone. Of course it may level out at maybe $0,45

Finally used up the last of my habenero crop from last year. These were frozen: some during the high yield period in early fall, some just prior to first killing freeze, picked green & ripened in containers. I fermented 9 days, processed last evening when rain drove me off from landscaping. Pure habenero is the BEST hot sauce. Flavorful, leaves you with a warm glow all over. I also grew tabascos last year, but birds ate most. I'll try again but protect with wire mesh.

🧵 I met Joe Biden in December, 2007 when I drove to Iowa to work on his campaign in any capacity they would have me. I worked in DuBuque office making phone calls. So today I bit the bullet and opened an account on x formerly twitter. I left 14 months ago and have no interest in the d*** thing. But there was someone I wanted to contact. I don't have any contact for them except I know they're on xtwitter. I created a burner email account to validate the thing and got logged in. What a cesspool! Aside ftom all the gory posts and rah rah trump comments, i got followed within an hour by two different accounts with profile pics of lovely young ladies.

I was working in DC when Dr. King was assasinated. Next morning demonstrations erupted all over the country. Fom my office bldg 2 blocks from White House we saw smoke rising from several locations across the city. Office closed; we walked to Pentagon to get a bus as traffic in the city was frozen. Walked through groups of demonstrators. Stores were burned and looted. On day 3 James Brown came, climbed on a car roof on F Street and implored everyone to go home.

Now, not so much. It's like when i was lost in a blizzard in N. Dakota. I was determined to keep going until i came to civilization or slid into a ditch. I was not hopeful. Just determined to tough it out. Thats how i feel.

Back when the world was young and I was too, I worked in DC, 2 blocks ftom the White House. I went running st lunchtime, down 15th st past East entrance to WH, around all the monuments, 8 miles. One day on 15th just after crossing Pa. Ave., the sidewalk was blocked by a limo waiting to be let in. I jogged in place right next to it. Thru window I saw Henry Kissenger. I was then awaiting word on whether my 1Y draft status would change to 4F or 1A. Lottery number was 28. I did not like him.
