🧵 I met Joe Biden in December, 2007 when I drove to Iowa to work on his campaign in any capacity they would have me. I worked in DuBuque office making phone calls. He visited a nearby town for a campaign event at a roadhouse. I was sent there to help set up chairs, banners, etc. I was told his small motorcade of 3 SUVs was on the way, and I should go stand in parking lot by the road to wave and make sure they knew this was the place. Next day he spoke to a gathering in Dubuque. I ended up being a "body man" as his brother Joe and I stood on each side as he spoke from a podium. We were informal crowd control.

Keith Olbermann quoted a poll that said if people believe BOTH are too old, they favor Biden overwhelmingly, trump voters included.

The best counterattack is not defending Joe, but attacking trump. He is a frigging basket case. Help people understand that. Don't just criticize his policies, point out his confusion, inability to even construct an intelligible sentence without sound effects.

Just thinking every African American would have had an ansestor brought to the US like this!.
And when they were on the plantation they would have been given they last name by they owner.

You go back 5 or 6 generations and there are 32 or 64 direct ancestors. Every one a victim, but also a hero for surviving that, the slavery that followed and still managing to pass on their DNA to you, and some of our finest artists, political leaders, scientists, & just plain everyday Americans.
James Brown's song in the height of the Civil Rights era still resonates:

    Here he is watching me put out breakfast this morning. We have 4 Blink cameras out there, originally to see if he showed up and watch out for other wildlfe (raccoons, opossums, skunks) but now in this brutal cold they sre hibernating and he is on the porch round the clock except for brief excursions, I assume when nature calls.

    Sounds ideal. But I read some time back that there are far more Palestinians than Israelis, so a single state with equal rights and democracy would end up a majority-Arab government. Israelis are as afraid of that as the white supremacists in the US are of being "replaced."
    Maybe a federation could work.

    When I drove a "food rescue van" for a local food pantry collecting birthday cakes from the grocery stores' bakeries was the height of my day. People who shopped at the pantry were registered; when they checked in volunteers checked for kids with birthdays coming soon & notified the volunteers assisting shoppers to give them a cake.

    I sometimes hung around to watch the faces as folks left with them. There was almost at least one every day. I sometimes got 4 or 5 cakes on a trip.

    Whst boggles my mind is "why are they phobic about it?"

    I first became aware it was a thing with Christine Jorgenson. I thought "wow, that's kinda weird. But to each their own." Since then I have learned it is a far more common condition than I knew & that without medical support, people can have really stressful lives, perhaps becoming suicidal. So it is not weird; it's fact.
    They should have an opportunity for their best life.
    Nobody is threatening to cut off my dangly bits.

    A few things you might not know:

    ✓ They told everyone to vax / boost & that that would be enough & nobody would have to mask. That has since turned out to be incorrect.

    ✓ Masking with an N95, KN95, or elastomeric respirator will keep you the most protected.

    ✓ FIT is important. If air can get in around the edges, you're not protected.

    ✓This means surgical masks will NOT protect you.

    Thank you for this. I kept safe; family were protective of me for almost 4 years. Used Amtrak private room one time to visit family across the country. Finally decided to roll the dice & fly. Wore n95 thru 2 flights, 3 airports, 2 limos. Tested + 4 days later. Unmasked woman next to me coughing; my mask probably slipped when I dozed.
    Yes, one small lapse can mean 26 days until 3 neg tests in a row.
    There is no such thing as "just this once can't hurt."

    I'm on a private email list with a bunch of really smart, well-connected (currently and previously held office or work(ed) w elected officials, WH, incl. Obama, Biden, consultants, advisors). One said this, in part: 1/...

    It will make no difference whatsoever if is banned from the ballot in or indeed any other blue state. All the matters is whether or not he is banned in a red state or in PA, WI, GA or AZ, ie one of the battleground states.

    My son's dad and his stepdaughter have apparently had a "bad flu" this whole past week.
    This is a household who stopped masking fall of 2022 and since then have continued to gather indoors at shopping, parties, church, and restaurants. They've had Covid three times that I know of now.
    It could be they do have flu this time, but I also wonder if he's saying that to avoid admitting they have Covid a fourth time. (He knows I still mask everywhere.)

    I have seen people ranting about street people panhandling when there are "help wanted" signs nearby. I tried to help a kid apply for a job at a fast food place.
    Go home, create an account, fill out a form with personal info, then take a personality test to see how well you work with others blah blah blah, then wait to see if they call.
    Oh, and since they rarely do, do this for about 10 of them.

    This whole time I've been wondering... why didn't Trump just uh... scan all the documents and then give them back?

    Obviously, that's still illegal and bad and wrong...
