Doctrine does not support to set the default values in columns through the DEFAULT keyword in SQL.

what the actual fuck

dcoderlt,

wat

I donโ€™t like setting default values personally, but last time I checked, it accepted a default value under column options?

#[ORM\Column(type: Types::BOOLEAN, nullable: false, options: ['default' => false])]

Haha, yeah, one of the first projects I inherited at work used a table to display three tabs with rounded corners, and when you clicked one of the tabs, it fired off a single $(...).addClass().next().removeClass().next().next().next().addClass()...
statement that had probably 30 .next() calls chained to each other, it was wild.

    IntelliJ tools have something similar, in the Code With Me plugin.
    The fact that vscode uses GitHub user accounts to make this feature work is interesting, are GH user accounts used for anything else?

    really do wonder what "normal programmers" are up to, like do they really "learn" a framework? and not just "pick it up" while working on a project?

    dcoderlt,
    @dcoderlt@ohai.social avatar

    @da_667 @eater
    I think that is what happens when there are 14 competing frameworks/npm modules/commercial products for the same thing โ€” when you are likely to encounter all of them, you canโ€™t learn them all end-to-end, you just soak in what you get.
    In a less crowded field (like PHP, where probably 90% of all action is split between WordPress, Laravel, and Symfony), it is a reasonable choice to learn one of them and specialize in it exclusively.

    dcoderlt,
    @dcoderlt@ohai.social avatar

    @eater
    there are also products built on top of those three, like WooCommerce, Shopware, โ€ฆ When customers come to you with โ€œI want e-commerce!โ€, they expect you to recommend a product you are already fluent in, so that you can tell them why itโ€™s a good fit for their project and how they should set things up. In those projects, itโ€™s really hard to learn-as-you-go.
    Of course there are other types of projects, where you have more freedom. So it depends also on what things you want to program.

    They advertised AI-driven improvements to call quality a year ago, maybe the ToS wording at the time was wiggly enough to cover this :/ Or it might be the case that people did raise a proper stink at the time and it fell off the radar two days laterโ€ฆ

    Maybe I should make some spare time for this.
