I am blind. Because of course I have to mention it in my profile. Accessibility drives me. I use all the major operating systems in some way, and find great things about all of them. I also enjoy reading, eating, relaxing, eating more, and chatting. I want to be a cat when I grow up.

My opinions are my own, and definitely do not reflect those of my employer.

There should be a social network called Meeper, where a post is a "meep", and "remeeps," and "meepmeeps," are replies, oh, "remeeps" are reposts, and such. I think it'd be funny.

devinprater, to books

Does anyone know of some good books where the hero, or main character, is fat? I don't mean like a few curves, I mean a big belly and such. And I don't mean the one I found just now, called "Heavy (The Weight Of It All): A LitRPG Fantasy Adventure" by Thorn, J.J. It's really like, I mean, why even have a fat character if he's gonna lose all the fat within, like, the first chapter? And why does it always have to be a guy?

I'm into Sci-fi, fantasy, LitRPG's, and a bit of horror.

devinprater,

@dhamlinmusic Oh yeah, I did like that one. It got kinda crazy near the end but it was good overall.

devinprater,

@wizzwizz4 Oh, I like worm so far. :)

Ahhh goodness yes! I'm finally back home, in my recliner, and loving every second of it! It's so good to be back in my own, quiet home.

devinprater, to random

I know I'm supposed to spend as much time with grandma as I can before she dies, but my goodness I miss my recliner a lot. I don't know what it is about it. But I love it. It let's me, as stupid as this sounds, kinda output my feelings. The feeling of motion, it just kinda... It really helps. Ugh I'm so weird.

devinprater,

@Pawpower You have a swing? I love swings too!

Hello world, I'm Vera! (roar!)

Totally new here but I'm excited to make friends and chat about and other fun stuff!

devinprater,

@GroundedWren Yay another person! How do you do webdev?

devinprater,

@GroundedWren Oh wow. How'd you learn?

devinprater, to random

I've had a week off work. I don't feel bad, exactly, but I don't feel good either. I eat maybe once or twice a day, and I don't eat much. For anyone that's known me for a while, y'all know I love food. Sorry for any weird stuff, the Braille display and iPhone aren't being good right now. Anyway, I'll clean that up later. I don't know what's wrong with me. I feel so empty. Like, I have no purpose. The job, well, it turns out I will have to learn to do audio editing, with Reaper, and at this point I'm not even mad. I just feel... drained. Like "okay, what will I need to do next, networking? Server maintenance? Something else I don't know how to do? Develop an app?" I mean, then again, server maintenance sounds kinda fun. Until it isn't, tracking down bugs in old forum posts and such. But audio editing? I've never been an audio guy. I mean, I just don't have it in me. Not anymore. Maybe before COVID I could have just, taken a deep breath. But if I were to take a deep breath, now, I'd just start thinking about everything and then do the thing where I breathe shallowly, hyperventilate or whatever it's called. Someone told me I should go to college, that I'm worth more than this job. I should ask them how they got started. I don't know a thing about college. I don't think I can keep doing this. I got 12 hours of sleep today. And I don't feel good. I ate something, even though I was only a little hungry, and I still don't feel much better. I guess that audio editing stuff really shut things down for me. Really pushed me towards finding something else. Gonna update my resume and see if anything happens. For now. That's a goal. Something I can work towards. But then, what if I can't recover from this? What if even in my new job, I feel drained and unable to do much? What if it's all just me, being lazy? Like my family says. Like people around me say. I don't know. I fear that no one knows. But we'll see I guess.

does anyone know how to get the invisible interface key map for tweesecake?

devinprater,

@keao Alt + Windows + Shift + H.

Tip for Overcast users. If you follow a podcast, and find that the "current" tab doesn't have all the episodes you want, find the "all" tab, and the "all" button near the top of the screen, and press that, and you'll have all episodes in your cvrrent tab, so you can listen for as long as you want, without needing to go to the all tab and play one episode at a time. Yeah, this definitely makes Overcast better for me and listening to everything in a feed.

Oh cool, there's a podcast of the Worm web-serial that's a full-cast audiobook. https://overcast.fm/+1y9HKTDdg

The picture is a comic strip with two panels.

In the first panel, there is a stick figure standing on a circular platform, looking at a tall, narrow chart with some markings on it. The chart is hanging on a wall. The text in this panel reads, "It's become conventional wisdom that the backlash against the prevailing consensus led researchers to ignore inconvenient new evidence, however..."

In the second panel, the image is zoomed out to show that the circular platform is actually one of many, stacked on top of each other like a tower. The text in this panel reads, "In a field that's been around for a while, it can be hard to figure out how many levels of rebuttal deep you are."

The comic seems to be making a point about the complexity and depth of knowledge in certain fields, and how it can be difficult to keep track of all the information and counterarguments .

YouTube is stupid for not making an API and charging a reasonable price for it. I'd totally pay for FooYouTube using the official API. I don't use the website just because I have Foobar so heavily configured that using anything else feels foreign, and I'm so used to it.

devinprater,

@MutedTrampet @TheQuinbox Can you use Foobar for Podcasts?

devinprater,

@MutedTrampet @TheQuinbox Aww, what do y'all use for Podcasts now?

Happy Thanksgiving to all that celebrate it! I hope you all eat lots and lots and lots and lots and... For those who don't celebrate it, I hope you still eat lots and lots and lots and...

@LavenderPawprints Ooo have you tried it????

devinprater,

@LavenderPawprints I wish I could run that. Especially the video part!

Yep, Windows has been up for four days. I guess it's about time for a reboot. :)

Even though I do have some sight, I'm having waaaay too much fun with this add-on. :)

devinprater,

@LavenderPawprints How did you tell it who you are?

devinprater,

@LavenderPawprints Oh okay. Wonder if you add in the prompt something like "If you see a person with long hair and <insert other defining features>, it's probably Kayleigh." I'm thinking about playing with it and video games. Like "If this image is of a video game, tell me about each object and where it is relative to the player's position, like:

  • Door: in front five steps and to the left 3 steps
  • Character with sword: Behind 4 steps and to the left 2 steps.

Something like that.

devinprater,

@LavenderPawprints Yeah, it was like, just released not too long ago. So I just made one big prompt. If you see this person, it's likely me, if it's an image of a game, treat it this way, that kind of stuff.

LavenderPawprints, to random
@LavenderPawprints@tweesecake.social avatar

This NVDA add-on is cool.

Wonder what I can do to prompt more detail out of it? The prompt seemed pretty weak to me.

devinprater,

@LavenderPawprints Yeah I need Python too. And my only GPU is an internal AMD one.

devinprater,

@LavenderPawprints Yeah. I think it'd be great if LLM's even supported AMD GPU's, but I've not found anything that works with them. Maybe if I used Linux. But ain't going through all that just for some AI.
