Just finished the Ripley miniseries. I thought it was brilliant. Recommended. I watched it on Netflix in the Netherlands...

@metin watching it now, at ep4. Slow burner it seems, but style, atmosphere and acting are great.

1984 - Ashton-Tate introduces the dBase III relational program for IBM PC-compatible computers.

dBase was one of the first database management systems for microcomputers and the most successful in its day. The dBase system included the core database engine, a query system, a forms engine, and a language that tied all of these components together.

This article about a BBS sysop brings back sweet memories of the dial-up modem days.

I was a youngster in 1989 when I got a 1200 baud modem from the publisher of a Dutch Amiga magazine, so I didn't need to deliver my articles on a diskette anymore.

The connection was so slow, you could see the characters appear on screen one by one. Something that persisted in movies for 10-15 years.

My mum exploded when she saw the first phone bill after I started using the modem. 😅

@metin good times, my first modem exp was with a 2400 one, build into my uncle's laptop. not much later i started my own BBS, a 2 node usrobotics 28.8kbps system with 1GB of storage! focussed on (pc) demo scene releases. i still don't know how i managed to pay for it all as a teenager.

@vga256 didn't have a decent midi device when this game was released, only a soundblaster, as many people. I'll be sure to test it with my mt32-pi now!
