@BrodieOnLinux there are cases when that happens. Like bad edid, dsub on 4k, old hdmi/dp standard on 4k, bad/old driver screens and all such nice corner cases. Where you could enforce a custom value on x11. So it's possible his case is true. It'll probably fix itself on the next hardware upgrade.

My wife is looking forward to deleting her Instagram account once she can connect with the same folks from her Mastodon account. Being able to remain in touch with over 100M people who still use Meta products out of the comfort of an ad-free, privacy-friendly platform like Mastodon is a game changer.

@haui This needs however to apply to every instance. If we dont federate by default, we should also not federate mastodon<->mastodon, for example. And this will essentailly kill every small, growing hub.

@haui but why not? I mean I get the legal reasons for a fediblock. But personal dislikes on another person/organization, for on an open instance shouldn't be a thing. This just feels like elon all over again.

@stuart The ones who will enable it will be mostly, and I can assure you that, sex and crypto bots. Simply because, why should the generic threads user enable it? To access 5 more users? There are 100,000,000 on the own platform. There is no reason to search for a settings and enable a cryptic nerdytech option.
Opt-in to federation wont help the fediverse at all.

    @2ndStar @beandev das machst du aber so oder so. Der Unterschied ist, dass du einmal deine Nutzer dazu zwingst auf threads.net zu gehen zum lesen oder sie sicher auf deiner Instanz lässt um die Sachen auf threads aus deinem cache zu lesen. Genau darum sehe ich das komplette blocken als falschen Weg.

    @puniko @igwigg mit seiner Abmoderation hat er gesagt, dass er zu alt sei. Nicht weiß was er sagen kann und was nicht. Passive auch dass er langsam im Kopf zu alt ist und Probleme hat die Stars zu erkennen und so weiter. Die Sendung war sprachtechnisch nicht ok. Er sagte auch, dass er zuhause anders sprechen kann als hier im Fernsehen, man nichts mehr sagen darf, er ein alter weißer Mann ist, die Klimakriese sich mit 8 Schweizern lösen ließe und diverse andere problematische Sprinkler.

    Also da war dieses Mädchen im Zug. Ich saß da, habe einen Vierer für mich alleine gehabt. Dann kam sie, fragte "ist hier noch Platz?" und setzte sich nach meinem Nicken neben mich. Sie begann Musik zu hören, ich zu lesen. Ich spürte die Blicke, sie las mit.
    "Sollte ich sie anreden?", fragte ich mich. Die Zeit verging, die Seiten flogen. Ich musste gleich raus, aussteigen.
    Allen Mut gebündelt legte ich den Manga zurück in meine Tasche und sagte zu ihr "du müsstest mich hier raus lassen".

    @puniko Seit wann hält man sich denn daran, was man kommuniziert.

    Wir haben zum Sommer hin eine Nextcloud aufgesetzt worüber wir die Arbeit von außen Handhaben wollten. So zum Testlauf erstmal solange der Praktikant da ist und vielleicht noch 1-2 Wochen danach. Dann Auswertung.

    Seither habe ich es produktiv im Einsatz, niemand sonst hat es jemals auch nur getestet. Bin gespannt wann die Auswertung kommt. :ablobcatgooglymlemjumping:
