@famousblueben@mas.to

Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia, I'm a big time film nerd (with a particular love of David Lynch & 20th century horror), an avid reader of a broad range (but 70s 80s horror and sci-fi paperbacks and political history are my jam) and part-time poet when I'm less stable/more inspired, indie rock geek with a strong Americana twist. I'm ace-leaning and a committed friend of the Trans community, genderqueer he/they, mental health awareness advocate with schizoaffective.

When I was a kid, I could never really get into the X-Men movies (despite liking if being overwhelmed by the comics) much as compared to Batman or Spider-Man or even Superman movies and quickly after the reboot in the 10s I lost interest once again after the first couple. So really it was to my benefit that Bryan Singer has now poisoned much of the series by association and I don't feel the need to make myself appreciate X2 or Days of Future Past anymore.

I didn't hesitate a moment when my dad said I could throw on an episode of #Columbo and it happens to have Vincent Price AND Martin Sheen in it! What a wonderous day.

Trying to convince myself I do not need to spend over 60 dollars buying a John Cassavetes 5 film box set even though there is nothing right now I want more

The HD remake of Sonic Adventure was on sale on Steam from $1.99, so even though it got kind of mixed reviews I couldn't resist that price for a classic, I never feel bad at treating myself to video games under $5.

They should do a spin-off movie about Statler and Waldorf done in the style of a harrowing John Cassavetes domestic drama.

I think most cats, if given the choice, would subscribe to LaVeyian Satanism.

Black Christmas from 1974 on this movie most likely inspired John Carpenter's Halloween

@angelus_04 Just rewatched it the other day, worth it just for John Saxon and Margot Kidder's hilarious star-making performance.

@Daojoan Fugazi were so, so good. This song of course stand above most, but they never released a less-than-good album and 13 Songs and Repeater soundtracked much of my youth.

Say I want to host a movie night with friends with films that I absolutely own legally that has a chat where we can make jokes and the absolute minimum of advertising. What would be your suggestion?

I do love the trend, which was really kicked into high gear by Pato O'Ward's success, in NXT for drivers to moonlight as Silver-rated drivers in LMP2 or GTD IMSA classes or even go over to the European sports car series and gain a lot more experience in different types of cars. I think it makes for more well rounded drivers, and it also helps with some of the vast majority of Indy NXT drivers who will not make it to Indycar or quickly wash out audition for a steady home elsewhere

I don't understand people who can wait to buy their coffee out of the house. I need at least 1-2 16oz cups in me before I'm remotely willing to leave the house for any reason but a cigarette or fire.

If I had to pinpoint a moment, now years passed but not recognized at that time, where I crossed the line into being an enby it was probably the time I semi-sadly listened to Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl by Broken Social Scene like almost every day for months and didn't understand why.

Wanna write an episode of where Columbo is dealing with a death cult trying to summon Lovecraftian horrors from another dimension.

I so, so hate the modern idea of the "legacy reboot", just bringing back any property that ever had any fanbase for pure depressing nostalgiafests usually featuring actors who would really be better off just enjoying their retirements. At this point, I just refuse to watch any of them as a rule, I'm not gonna reward any studio for making them no matter how much morbid curiosity I might have.

I'm currently watching one of the most underrated films by the great Lost Highway, which as a collector of course I own. I remember the first time I watched this movie I was like in my late teens and blown away by how tremendous a performance Robert Loggia gives, stealing every scene, because growing up in the 90s and 00s I mostly only knew him for basic cable commercials preying on older people. He is so good though.

Because I spent so much of my youth just playing Pokemon whenever I wanted to mess around with my Gameboy and never had any generation of handheld after that, I missed sooo many games that came out for them. What are some of your favorite games that came out for and that I should check out, I've seen so few videos or anything compared to any other systems that I'm kind of flying blind.

Ranting to the group chat about how Black Christmas is the first true slasher (sorry to Psycho and Peeping Tom and giallo) as we know the term today, instead of ya know actually watching it and allowing myself a good time.
