TRANS FEM FRIENDS: What do you wish you could say to the person you were before transition who thought it was impossible to ever actually be a girl or be fem?

I sometimes think back and find myself at a loss at what would have supported that girl best. She was so sad, hopeless, and often dissociated or in fight/flight/freeze/fawn over her distress with how she felt like she couldn't fit in the world. And like, I know "it gets better" or "it really is possible" wouldn't have gotten through.

I talk to a lot of young trans folks who go through this still every day, and so would appreciate others thoughts on this!

Long night so far.

A call from my sister just after midnight that she’d taken mum to the hospital.

Been holding bedside vigil while sister goes home and gets some sleep. Doctors running tests and whatnot. Morphine for the pain. Machines that go “bing”.

It’s about 4:30am and mum’s snoring with a plethora of tubes and wires.

Eyes are heavy. Chair is uncomfortable. The nurses showed me where I could make a cup of coffee for myself.

So I ran my students through an activity today that basically leads them into the "state of nature" thought experiment...and they all accidentally reinvented police, surveillance, prisons, and execution...that escalated very very fast. 😅

Thing is, I had planned on this all along so I can teach them about the idea next week and then critiques of it. My plot for them to learn and grow is working ...mwuahahaha! Seriously though, kinda surprised something I devised in an afternoon actually worked and they are on the right track to explore and critically engage with ideas. It's almost like I'm not terrible at teaching maybe?

Anyway, next week to take them through basically intro to political science and intro to gender studies in two hour-long lessons...oof
