I have been having the worst luck getting my new NAS online. I bought great #axzez interceptor board a while ago, but recently started collecting the rest of the parts. In the past week: one of the three 14 TB drives arrived dead, and then the PSU in the case arrived dead. I think tomorrow I will finally have all of the pieces working.
The good news is that @geerlingguy ‘s articles on getting started with #ZFS Made it so easy to get going.
@maxgot 98% of the time, Stream would suffice. But that's not good enough, especially considering I don't run RHEL in production so I rely on test environments that match as close as possible.
"Red Hat announces RHEL10 sources will only be available to internal engineers under strict NDA, claiming that this is actually better for the downstream open source community."
For his entire career as a radio engineer, my Dad has not been allowed to broadcast on amateur radio frequencies.
He and I are now hams—I look forward to learning more about RF wizardry from him! More to come on our Geerling Engineering YouTube channel—and Happy Father's Day!
I think the thing I dislike about Mastodon the most is kind of a core part of the federation:
There are so many times I end up on a toot page on some instance that's not my primary instance, and I go to 'retoot' (boost) the thing, then up pops the whole "you have to copy this address, go to your instance, paste it in search, then you can retoot it there" schpiel
Too much cognitive overhead, and the workflow is terrible on touchscreen, so I just don't do it.
One of the people who stopped by the store to see Jeff Geerling yesterday told us about his Etsy store where he sells super slim 3D printed AirTags. He uses Raspberry Pi for Octoprint on all his 3D printers.
@Raspberry_Pi Can confirm—I was handed one of these little devices, and it is very nice to have a couple mm back—wish Apple would make a slimline AirTag like this!
The price is a little steep, but especially if you want to slap it in a space where an AirTag just wouldn't fit, it is nice.
