"NO. Arrest people for pooping"

Rant: today I wanted to prepare a simple NFT demo for high-schoolers. They should use a pre-created smart contract, add their images, and then deploy this on a test network.
finding some test-EHT was already difficult
some tutorials exist, so I tried to follow those
eth-brownie doesn't seem to be supported anymore and doesn't work on MacOSX (anymore?)
it's successor, eth-ape, doesn't work on MacOSX, neither
I tried devbox (nix), docker, compiling from source... Usually I think of myself of a good programmer. But dependency hell in Python is a level I'm really not used to.
Anybody got any idea how to do this in a simple way?
:: In a dystopian future, not as unfamiliar as it ought to be, the Brazil Internet Mail-order Corporation gives all employees regular personality tests. An algorithm analyzes video of the face as you see various images.
With yet another mass shooting sending fear through the workers, bosses decide some will need to learn to use a gun. (This extra duty comes with a 10k pay bonus.)
The personality tests will ensure only the most stable & rational fork lift operators get holstered.
I like Parallels for Mac, but I don't appreciate their refusal to ship security updates after a year unless I "upgrade" to their yearly subscription model.
Parallels' model seems to be that with every new version of macOS you should have to pay them again, or run a product with known vulnerabilities.
I'm really sick of how everything has to be a continuing revenue stream for software companies, and it steams me that we still don't have any basic rights or guarantees defined as buyers and users of software.
@briankrebs so what do you propose for a commercial software company? Do you really think anything else than a monthly payment will make it possible to follow up on all bugs?
Said the guy who only uses free (as in beer) and educational software.
Well, I donate to Signal and Mastodon, and got my company to donate monthly for cryptpad. But I'm not sure all donations actually cover their bills.
Domesticated bees are useful. They pollinate crops & produce honey. But, what could domesticated ants do?
Ants are stronger than bees & come in a wide range of sizes. They can be kept healthy on an inexpensive a diet of feeder insects & plant sugars. Ants are fastidious & pay attention to details. 1/
Have you noticed that people are taking weekends seriously? I used to be able to get responses on weekends and now I barely do. It's the greatest development in the history of email and we should never go back.
Elon Musk has floated solving the DSA compliance problem by simply removing the app from the European Union, which only counts for 9% of daily active users.
@fj very interesting. It managed to answer my tax related question on the second try. One week ago I had to email the tax authorities with my question. Which replied very timely.
Richest man on planet earth, who migrated from South Africa to America & likes to be known for supposedly being smart & solving hard problems, suggests easy solution should be to let people desperate to find economic opportunities sink in the Mediterranean Sea.

Last time our cat was missing for two days she came back smelling cigarette smoke and alcohol. We guess she got locked in by accident in one of our neighbor's rooms...
In their official press release the Government confirms it is a trial for one year. They state that "Mastodon has several characteristics that make it fundamentally attractive for government communications", such as being beyond the control of others, as well as it being privacy friendly.
Has anyone designed a "Gerrymander It!" board game or mobile game?
Although more people now recognize what a powerful force districting can be in politics, to really get viscerally angry about it helps if you've tried doing it.
It might work best as a mobile game where you'd draw the map with a time limit then an election would run (with some random variation) and you'd see if you won.
The police shot a 63 year old man while trying to evict him from his home. The elderly man had been taken in by "sovereign citizen" conspiracy theories much to his son's frustration.
These theories made him more vulnerable to police violence. He also may not have been mentally well.
The house he was evicted from used to belong to his brother, but a corporation recently bought it for $25,000, then evicted him.
I don't know if I'd call "Trump Employee 4" (the IT guy) a hero. Having been the IT girl from time to time erasing surveillance footage from a quality system isn't easy - it will leave a trail of evidence... most notably the missing footage, but also logs. Then there is the issue of off-site back up.
There was probably NO way to erase the footage without leaving IT guy fingerprints all over the serverlogs. Not without going 31773 haxxor.
The only logical response is "i am not the one, buddy"
