Does anybody on the fedi Laravel community knows Aaron Francis? It's really sad that his (awesome) fast-paginate package seems abandoned like this, maybe just a statement acknowledging he can't/doesn't want to maintain it anymore can make the community fork it to keep it maintained. This L11 support PR has been opened and unanswered for 2 months already.

Question for my fellas:

Do you think Bus::dispatch()and dispatch() behave exactly the same? Should they?

Boosts appreciated, obviously :)

tl;dr: upgrade glibc on your servers!

Summing it up, there's a vulnerability (CVE-2024-2961) on glibc that, apparently, can be used to get RCE on servers running PHP.
It's recommended that you update glibc to a patched version.

https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2024-2961
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2024-2961

There's an upcoming talk on May 10 where the researcher will explain how it was used to hack PHP servers.

So, after a post* from @a , I introduce you to

@Wikipedia_EN_alerts

It checks every half an hour articles that belong to the category "All articles proposed for deletion" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:All_articles_proposed_for_deletion ) AND to "All articles with topics of unclear notability" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:All_articles_with_topics_of_unclear_notability ) and post a random one from the list.

I feel that I could add other alerts to it so if anybody has an interesting use case lmk and I can look into it.

As always, all suggestions welcome!

I wonder how big is the carbon footprint of all the "platform formerly known as Twitter" written over the last months (and what's to come) as opposed to just "Twitter"

On CSS, is there a way to 'clip' the area where a filter is applied?

I want to blur an input with

.myBlurredInput {
filter: blur(3px);
}

BUT, I'd like to blur only the inside, not the border around the input. I've been playing with mask to no avail. Any ideas??

Does anybody have experience with zipgrep? I'm trying to run a regex with alternation but for some reason it's not working. I run:

zipgrep -E "(wordA|wordB)" file.zip

on a zip file which I know it contains bot words within its files, but it returns nothing, if I uncompress the file and run egrep, it works fine 🤯

Edit: fixed the command again bc apparently I can't type

I actually think is a good thing Twitter is no longer a thing because now it's easier to mourn it for what it was instead of what it has become. This gives us closure people!

Ok, this is a smart workaround to avoid unnecessary polyfills on your projects. It always bothered me to have no way to avoid symfony/polyfill-mbstring and symfony/polyfill-ctype even though my systems always have the necessary extensions. Well, this fixes that :)

Oh, wow, I did not expect the OpenGraph spec to restrict the "gender" field to two values (male/female). I mean, it was created by Facebook so idk why I'm surprised but why not make it more flexible? 🤷

We didn't even start federating with Facebook and it already feels unfathomable for some people that we wouldn't have access to their millions of people.

Basically, one of the strongest tools of the fedi is already out of the table because no matter what they do, how would we dare lose access to The People & The Brands??

Moderation will be back to being individual labor instead of community protection 🥲
