Twitter just doing a "redirect links in tweets that go to x.com to twitter.com instead but accidentally do so for all domains that end x.com like eg spacex.com going to spacetwitter.com" is not absolutely the funniest thing I could imagine but it's high up there
Ok, this is a smart workaround to avoid unnecessary polyfills on your #PHP projects. It always bothered me to have no way to avoid symfony/polyfill-mbstring and symfony/polyfill-ctype even though my systems always have the necessary extensions. Well, this fixes that :)
My first #fediverseBot is finally live! @LaDiaria posts news from the πΊπΎ newspaper @ladiaria directly from their RSS feed. As bots go, it's really simple but the reason I'm so happy is that's running from my own implementation of an #ActivityPub compatible server made with #Laravel and #PHP. There's still plenty of work to do, but for now, the basics are there and I wanted to test it in the wild.
So, tell me again why indie devs shouldn't build anything related to search/scraping on the fediverse? Google's already scraping the hell out of us, we're just giving them the service on a silver platter
Summing it up, there's a vulnerability (CVE-2024-2961) on glibc that, apparently, can be used to get RCE on servers running PHP.
It's recommended that you update glibc to a patched version.
@tieflingdiotima@alttexthalloffame@spaceninja something I help with every time I can in case you don't feel like with enough energy to do it yourself is reply to #ALT4me requests. You tag your post with it, somebody helps and then you can edit the original with the provided description or use it as a base.
Does anybody on the fedi Laravel community knows Aaron Francis? It's really sad that his (awesome) fast-paginate package seems abandoned like this, maybe just a statement acknowledging he can't/doesn't want to maintain it anymore can make the community fork it to keep it maintained. This L11 support PR has been opened and unanswered for 2 months already.
