@itsfoss No. Honestly after Winamp owners dancing around with claims about "opening the source code" but not specifying license of the code and never directly stating it will be open source...
Well, smells shady to me and for Linux, my main battlestation makes most out of tui or suckless stuff and phone aims to Gnome.
@mntmn I think first time I saw something like that on Pebble watch back then. If I remember correctly it was LCD with transreflective layers behind and state memory for saving battery life.
Now, everyone is so furious about OpenAI stealing a beloved celebrity's voice. But what about the many artists, writers/authors, and creators whose copyrighted works OpenAI stole to create works resembling and replacing those people's products? Not famous enough to generate the same outrage, right? At least now, everyone knows how bad Sam Altman is. He thinks he is above the law. I'm glad someone is standing up to this bully and I hope something good come out of it.
@nixCraft suuuuure. Mediocre computer game is able realtime change sound of characters voice but most powerful AI lab has to stop it completely instead of tweaking it.
Sam probably also never heard of phrasing and other parameters of speech 🤔
I'm concerned about the quality of Google search results. Lately, I'm seeing Reddit links dominate the top spots, even when they're not the most relevant sources. Is there a reason for this? DuckDuckGo is giving out better results. What is going on? 🤔 Btw, if you connected to the vpn and not logged into the Reddit, you get lovely fake message from Reddit. The official Reddit app is crap too. What do you think?
@nixCraft this is one of the reasons I prefer to use manpages and other documentation. After that I try to crawl project wiki and then random small blogs/git repos in search.
Only after every single option above failed I admit my defeat and turn to reading old Reddit posts (like typically 3-10yrs old threads).
Also weird results is why I don't use Google for years more than once after fresh browser install before I remember to change it to sth else 😅
#askfedi Hi, I haven't followed the progress for a while, which OSes are currently usable on #pinephone (basic call/SMS, terminal, GPS, not crashing too much)? Is #waydroid usable (in particular for #OSMAnd)? Thanks!
@Goffi hello, my recommendation would be #postmarketOS or #Mobian.
GPS is a bit tricky, because there is no aGPS functionality so you have to wait long time before getting location. Good starting point is always postmarketOS wiki, including lists of apps.
As of waydroid, I have never been patient enough to get it running and even after that I would not recommend it as solution you would rely on. Especially on Pinephone.
@nixCraft I really don't feel this is bigger downgrade than ditching replaceable battery.
My girlfriend's phone lacks jack so we purchased USB-C to jack for connecting to a car radio and we both use it as it firmly holds on cable and both our phones are able to pass sound through USB-C
