🧵 I wrote ab the “is Signal secure?” manufactroversy on X. The Guardian wanted an explainer on why Elon & Jack were “concerned” about Signal. The answer, though, has nothing to do w/Signal’s product. It was part of an extended fight over whether woke NPR should be defunded & the CEO fired. Why? Because the CEO of NPR is on the board of Signal; by the Transitive Property of Bad People, Signal is thus compromised.

@jeffjarvis I chuckled at your WSJ quip (it’s not inaccurate), but I have a funny anecdote for you. It was comical watching my Waymo trying to navigate an unprotected left hand turn in downtown Phoenix last week. I had to sit through multiple light cycles because the self-driving tech couldn’t muster the courage to make a quick left in front of oncoming traffic. At one point, a driver even attempted to waive my driverless car through, but my car didn’t seem to understand the hand gesture. 😂

The most ridiculous thing about US notions of decorum, is that people are expected to be silent when Black women are attacked.🤷🏿‍♂️

If a Black woman is attacked and no one says anything, it's allowed to slide. But if a Black woman is attacked and people say anything in response, either calmly and politely like AOC did, or with an in-kind response like Crockett did, then all the "neutral" parties come pouring out of the woodwork, worried about "decorum."

Paper was used for more than just writing, drawing, and printing, as of know. Paper was mainly used for wrapping purposes too, as I said here in my introduction to the volume "The Paper Trade in Early Modern Europe. Practices, Materials, Networks"

The thing that kills me about the “let’s teach Dems a lesson” by not voting crowd is that this is the last chance to save our democracy.

If Trump wins - he will appoint Alito and Thomas’ successors. And maybe even Sotomayor who is 70 next month.

The conservative majority on the court will be secured for the next 30 years.

There will be no lessons learned here.

It will be over.
