@chris Cool! It’s not in the Android store sadly, but still good to know about! I tried Metatext at one point and it had a lot of promise, but then someone pointed out to me it was already dead at that point 😅

is most likely not coming to "destroy" the . We have just over 1.5mn monthly active users (MAU) here, clearly we are not a threat to their combined 3,740mn MAU. Heck, Meta probably won't mind losing 1 or 2mn of them to "us" if they can establish a alternative. That's the big prize imo. The bird has over 350mn MAU. Getting only 10 percent of those is worth potentially losing 1 or 2mn to the Fedi.

@ainmosni @jynersolives they don’t block you, they have exacting standards about things like SPF that are hard for individuals to meet.

In my experience though it’s not gmail that blocks you most often, it’s other little servers that are themselves misconfigured.

Moderation is super hard and e-mail has reached the endgame where Inter server moderation is a web of protocols and spam filtering.

@ainmosni @jynersolives Well I've run an email server for an NGO for years and in terms of deliverability, the vast majority of our problems are with other small players.

Not to say we should all use the big boys, but running small servers is suffering.

I love that Apple specifically said “where you look is private.”

Most companies wouldn’t mention it at all, and would probably consider it impossible to make a VR API that didn’t leak where you’re looking to third parties. Apple thought about it and made it a priority 🔒

@grrrr_shark Very fair point. I screamed so loud when I saw the price it scare my cat in the other room. Insane pricing.

Looks like it’s “worth it” in the same way as the Pro Display XDR: Nothing to compare it to on the market, and as premium as possible. But like the XDR also just not a useful product to almost anyone.

Like with XDR I’ll be patient and wait for the “Studio Display” equivalent. Still shockingly expensive to people around me, but reasonable in context.
