Bought a squirrel feeder for my kid and dog to enjoy some squirrel tv at the dinner table.

My mom asked if it's marketed as a squirrel feeder, and the answer is no, but it clips onto the railing like a Tim Hortons on the 401 so I can't imagine it not being used as a squirrel pit stop.

Loom is warped! I probably should have waited a few more days since I made a lot more mistakes than usual and it was harder than I thought it would be with the current state of my back. But with breaks and help and this Danny Michel song, I got it done.

New warping pegs worked out, but I forgot to take a picture of them in use!

OK, running with 3 adventurers is always going to be a dicey business. They won but one adventurer bled out from a head wound because the First Aid roll failed and the only other adventurer who could heal was in a one-on-one honor duel with a Humakti whilst this was happening…

Hunh, just read that Myles Goodwin of April Wine died today at the age of 75. I can’t say I was ever compelled to buy an April Wine album, but their hits were part of my musical landscape. I’ll aways crank it if “Oowatanite” comes on 😄

I’ve been listening to Skinny Puppy since about 1984. The first time I ever encountered them, I was about thirteen years old and saw them on a Canadian pop culture show called Live It Up. They were only on screen for a few seconds, but I was enraptured. I’d never seen or heard anything like that before. Years later, I ended up becoming an industrial music DJ for clubs and radio. https://www.side-line.com/skinny-puppy-to-split-up-for-good-after-41-years-according-to-new-interview/

This Ottawa-based science fiction convention has consistently had stronger COVID policies than most conferences since the start of the .
They survey people (prior to each convention) interested in attending, and cater the policies to what people want. You may be surprised. In light of new variants and what might be around in the fall... Some highlights:

  • "The clearest message we received was that mandatory was an absolutely necessary part of having a safe and welcoming environment."
  • "There was also mixed support for ensuring that attendees are vaccinated, but since provincial governments have stopped supporting the various verification systems, we don’t want to promise something we can’t deliver. Can*Con will encourage all attendees to be up to date on their vaccines and boosters."

No Megan Rapinoe slander will be tolerated. None, you hear me? Rapinoe was the first white football player to support Colin Kaepernick. Soccer is football.

I'm scared of France, Netherlands, and England. The US didn't get much worse. Everyone else has gotten a lot better.

The "I'm a Fox watcher that can't name 3 players in the US Women's Nation Team" to "I'm now an expert on women's soccer, and make more misogynistic comments about the USWNT than Alexi Lalas" pipeline is always in full effect.

With the starting its C11 consultations. CBC released this propaganda piece on the definition of "canadian content" dressed up as how Toronto and Vancouver host a lot of movies. But once hooked, the narrator dives into the no contrrol over content" etc that the legacy media have argued during C11 hearings about the need to keep that clause in definition of Canadian content.
The Problem With Hollywood North: Canada's Pseudo-American Cities
    https://youtu.be/sgkBFTHoZyg

    mpjgregoire,

@jfmezei The old argument was that if we didn't have Cancon requirements for broadcasters, their hours would be filled with US shows, with no prime time available for Canadian ones. But now that bandwidth for video is essentially unlimited, Canadian producers don't lack opportunities for Canadians to watch their stories. The old rules no longer make sense for video [0].

@justinling @human3500 @ottawa_smor Characterizing the proposals as censorship is not realistic.

We've had Canadian content regulations for decades and we are still being steamrolled by non-Canadian "culture".

Censorship would remove non-Canadian content. Here we are giving a boost to Canadian content among the world content, so it doesn't get drowned out by big money interests.

It is the big money that is algorithmically censoring.
