Golden-Mantled Ground Squirrel by Debra Martz A small squirrel like a chipmunk, with grayish-brown fur & 2 white stripes edged with black. I first saw one of these at Bryce Canyon, I thought it was a Chipmunk. When I started trying ID the variety, I discovered it was a squirrel. 4 years later I see another one, this time in New Mexico but I knew it was not a Chipmunk this time.

For each thorn..there is a rosebud.
For each twilight - a dawn.
For each trial - the strength to carry on.
For each storm cloud - a rainbow.
For each shadow - the sun.
For each parting - sweet memories when sorrow is done.

Words of encouragement, support, sympathy and remembrance from Ralph Waldo Emerson pair beautifully with a single rosebud https://fineartamerica.com/featured/for-each-thorn-there-is-a-rosebud-karen-cook.html?newartwork=true

I wonder if the scientist who forgot to tighten the nut on the Russian Moon probe (or whatever) is being invited round the Kremlin for some nice piping hot tea?

Their spouse: Honey, honey, we've won a holiday cruise in a government contest - our whole family!

Rocket scientist: That's odd, I don't recall entering any contests?

Must have been amusing the flunkie had to go tell Mad Vlad the big PR move in space got to the Moon before the Indian probe did but now it's garbage and India's isn't.

@adwright or was invited to lean out of a window, or step onto a balcony in Moscow...

Sunshine bright and cheerful, the Buttercup has long been associated with children's tales, and myths.

But the petals of this tiny flower serve a more important role in nature....their petals are reflective, and hold a pool of nectar not found in any other flower...making them irresistible to pollinators.

I just love their rich buttery color. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/beautiful-buttercups-karen-cook.html

The Fort Point Museum & lighthouse in LaHave is the location of the 1st landing in the new world by Samuel de Champlain & Pierre DeMonts in 1604 in what was originally named Fort Sainte-Marie de Grace

Now a National Historic Site of Canada, tells the story of the settlement of the land by Sir Isaac de Razilly, in 1632. After his death, Port Royal became the capitol of Acadia and later Nova Scotia, until 1749 when the capitol was moved to Halifax.

This weathered building with its brightly colored roof is over 200 years old!

la Vieille Maison is a museum located in Meteghan the area known as 'The French Shore'...a referral to its history of Acadian culture.

With its roof portraying the vibrant colors of the Acadian flag, and with its "French blue" door, la Vieille Maison or the old house dates back to 1796, & is the best preserved example of a post-exile Acadian dwelling https://fineartamerica.com/featured/la-vieille-maison-karen-cook.html

  • I didn't see who the inhabitant or creator of this fascinating spider web was but experts tell me it was some species of orb-weaving spiders.

But the intricate, zig-zag pattern of the weave of silk is their signature weave.

Each species weaves their web a little differently and each species has a unique pattern, depending on their habitat.

Truly one of nature's top web designers! https://fineartamerica.com/featured/natures-weaver-karen-cook.html

"How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days" - John Burroughs.

Autumn has arrived , and while the days are still warm, the leaves are beginning their transformation from lush greens of summer to the beautiful tones of autumn.

After a gentle rain overnight, and the sun was rising, this perfect leaf showed off its beauty.
