Poll: What value is typically used to represent the concept of "true" (Boolean) in most programming languages?

lemgandi,
@lemgandi@mastodon.social avatar

@nixCraft Well, in a truly righteous world, 0 would be True//Success//OK and any other value would be False. There are many errors, but only one truth. Alas, we live in a Fallen world.

@ZachWeinersmith Hm. I've found the self-motivation to do the second panel through the first. You can educate your taste to the point where you want to spend hours drudging away on scales.

My B4 prototype, 15+ years old. Original battery. Still works and battery charging is no problem. Impressive little machine :)

Your periodic reminder that if you:

a) Dislike long threads and;

b) Follow someone who routinely posts long threads;

that is a YOU problem, which you can solve by unfollowing, and, if need be, blocking that user so they don't show up in your federated timeline.

@trantion @pluralistic This is So Cool. I enjoy Cory and follow him separately on pluralistic.net, so I don't want to scroll past the same material in my feed. That filter has made my life better.

When you tell your wife you installed on the toaster, and it now requires typing seven commands to toast the bread

@nixCraft But you wrote a script with all 7 commands and fifteen argument options to simplify things.

TikTok hysteria notwithstanding, the heads of the CIA, FBI and Intel community are careful to note that any threat to national security is purely hypothetical.

There's no evidence that TikTok has ever coordinated with the Chinese government. https://theintercept.com/2024/03/16/tiktok-china-security-threat/

lemgandi,

@taylorlorenz Real and present threats to everyone's privacy by true-blue all-American corporations, however, are all too real. And ignored by politicians.

It is still a helpful book. Not many computer books can say that. Do you still have old and favorite books that are useful in programming?

lemgandi,
@lemgandi@mastodon.social avatar

@nixCraft I have a much-loved copy. Also cf https://alf.nu/RegexGolf?world=regex&level=r00 for added fun..

Unlike proprietary OSs, Unix/Linux books never really get old.
