I haven't seen much about it, but did anybody tried the newer gpgpu implementation with gpus on ? would be my usecase :)

I've been late to second day, due to short night. We had fun yesterday walking along the highway, which was occupied by tractors, to go the annual XSF dinner. The first day was really good and interesting.

Now we are talking about synchronizing status of conversations in XMPP (read, archived, etc).

@Goffi What kind of 2.0? The "let's push all the XEP that are kind of mandatory now in the IETF core standard" or the "let's switch to json over https requests and a blockchain model" kind?

Tragic , I'm afraid. legend, and co-designer of Battle, , died today at only 68 years of age.

A massive loss, and an end of an era. My condolences to his family.

Another point upgrade to 14.0-RELEASE-p2 done :freebsd:

Is it just me or the frequency of these updates is really fast nowadays? Like, 2-something weeks it was released and two point releases already. Not that this is particularly bad or good either, just unusual in my perception.

@kzimmermann These are related to vulnerabilities, so their discovery date can be pretty random... Note also this is not 14.0-specific, 13.2 also got them (and 12.4 in the case of the PF one).

Sitting patiently whilst Julie re dyes my hair aka regingering reading about of all things. I've read about the differences between and and now I'm onto the ports system and OMG I'm nearly tempted to give it a whirl on my trusty old test laptop. :freebsd:
How many folk have if any have switched from Linux to BSD and if you have please tell me why and what you prefer over the former ?

@JustineSmithies I switched around 2008 from Gentoo -- but at work it's mostly still Linux ( when I decide).

What worked for me was having a very stable, well designed ,no nonsense, and monolithic base with a very customizable Makefile-based rolling packaging system on it.

I've been using it for both server, desktop stuff, and it worked great, even for a little bit of gaming (linux compat or wine, albeit both are harder now, and steam on linux as well as gpgpu is pulling me a bit).

    @jabberati @debacle @colincogle I've seen that Gandi has an API, but they've been upping prices a little bit too often to my taste... In the meanwhile, setting up a CAA record would help if there are rogue certificates from "trusted" authorities (in the case of jabber.ru, it didn't help as the host put themselves in front of the server to also request LE certs).

    @ZachWeinersmith As others have said, that would be mostly the second. For the first, in addition to what other have said, they would probably say "Nous avons tout" or most likely "Nous avons de tout" to say they have everything in stock. "Nous vendons tout" implies the whole building will go once the stock are gone :)

    A hard thing working on more Bea Wolf is remembering that it really was this hard the first time! The killer thing with poetry is you gotta spend a chapter's worth of time on a single stanza.

    Very interesting, I rarely saw discussed from the protocol design point of view (as it's not a collaborative work).

    It feels a bit like they wanted a blockchain-like IM network, removed some parts but failed to implement robust distribution -- and left some fundamental issues.

    At the same time, while there will still be other issues, I'm genuinely amazed on how evolved in the last years.
