description of a more stylized approach to road placement which i tried during prototyping. the current approach is grid based but is more "natural" and is not constrained in this specific way.

@lorenschmidt I'm curious what makes a road stylized?

I need to redo the road generators in my town generation. My first pass was really simple, define one spot as the center of town, and every home draws a road from itself to the towncenter. And no it doesnt care if it's putting it's road right through someone elses home 😅

@lorenschmidt oh so you added more logic to respect the terrain in the area? Does your alogrith respect distant terrain, or only really care about nearvy features it would run into?

Valve have just made some MASSIVE changes to their AI usage in on Steam policy.

Instead of outright rejecting AI generated content containing games, now pretty much all games can use AI tools BUT they will be flagged as using AI tools on Steam!

@GameFromScratch This feels basically impossible to enforce. Yeah there are obvious cases, but theres an ocean of grey area in this domain.
What if i use ai to write dialogue and then have a human edit it to make sure there are no AI error.

What about AI for concept art and then have a human go in an make the actual asset with the concept art as a baseline? I can think of about a million other cases where I dont think you can clearly distinguish AI content.

@Radical_EgoCom Hard disagree. Look at religious communities (im personally not religious) but people in those communities have thriving social groups.

The problem seems to be actually due to society being setup with religion uses as the foundational social tool, but then we largely abandoned religion without setting up good social replacements.

@Radical_EgoCom Can't say I have a good answer to that question.

I've seen some larger companies (like google for example) that set up lots of internal employee clubs. That's better than nothing I guess.

It seems like in general we may need create structures at the city/community level again. But I'm also not sure society as a whole has much of a desire for that.
