Git Tory MP on Newsnight. I'm swearing at the tv again...

(He said the Rwanda policy is what "the people" want. No they fucking don't!)

There aren't local elections in Scotland this year (other than by elections), but I'm looking forward to seeing the rout in England!

This is a must-see - I love George Wyllie's work: witty, clever and thought provoking. Brilliant!

As others have pointed out, Starmer seems to confuse "British", "English" and "patriotism" in his piece for the Torygraph.

"He also said the party lacked faith in the strength of British national identity to “withstand discussion”, and this has weakened the Tories’ claim to patriotism.

In an opinion piece published ahead of St George’s Day on Tuesday, Starmer spoke of his “pride and gratitude” at being English."

I went climbing volcanoes today. I thought a stroll up Arthur's Seat would stretch my legs.
I could see from Holyrood that the hill was really busy and decided to climb Whinny Hill to the north east.
Whinny Hill was empty, and rather glorious. There was lots of gorse in flower. I caught the sun a little.
From the bealach I climbed a random path to the summit - which was busy.
There was hardly anyone on the way down on the west side. Salisbury Crags were busier, but not by much. Wonderful views!

“It was an explosion of dissent,” says Camilla Berens, who was at the heart of the campaign. “A lot of people said Michael Howard did us a favour – he brought a whole generation of outsiders together.”

@fkamiah17 I remember my incredulity at any governments' inability to define music - the focus on repetitive beats would get Stravinsky banned as well! The CJB was authoritarian, illiberal and undemocratic. It played to the Tories' core and alienated (even criminalised!) the youth vote.

And by co-opting D:Ream's "Things Can Only Better", Labour used repetitive beats against them!

An interesting but completely unsurprising look behind the scenes of the policymakers who came up with the unworkable Rwanda plan.

Back from the Fergus McCreadie Trio at the Queen's Hall. I've probably seen them more than any other band, and they've played some amazing shows. Each time, I prepare myself to be disappointed - because sometime, they're going to disappoint me.

Not tonight. It was an absolute cracker. It was the launch gig for their new album ("Stream") and apparently they played all of it - if it's half as good as the way they played tonight, it'll be very good indeed. Just brilliant.

"In a move designed to avoid big delays, the government said it would ensure the rate of checks was initially “set to zero for all commodity groups”.

The border controls have already been delayed five times over fears that they could cause disruption and further fuel price inflation."

The UK government has postponed border checks for the fifth time. It almost like they think Brexit was a bad idea.

From the FT (link to yesterday's article on the web archive): "The UK government has told the country’s port authorities that it will not “turn on” critical health and safety checks for EU imports when post-Brexit border controls begin this month because of the risk of “significant disruption”."

I went to a wine tasting tonight. Two whites, four reds. One of the whites was disappointing (from a winery I normally think is wonderful, so I was surprised). The reds were all good, two very good indeed.
I was seated at a table for three, but one person didn't show up. And the other man at the table didn't want any of the three spare glasses, either.

So I had another glass of each of the reds, because it would be rude not to. (This was a very good outcome.)

The Tory party had been aware for "a while" - but only acts after details are published in the Times?!

'Shapps told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme: “I understand that CCHQ have been aware for it for a while and have been investigating, and I think some new investigation has come to light subsequently.”'
