I am now a convert to eSIMs. I was skeptical, but they are really slick!

@revk Back in 2003 I had a Nokia Communicator with a One2One SIM which had 4 numbers on it, voice, priority voice, fax & data numbers on it.

This is a great tribute to a friend, the pub just put a plaque on the bench in the garden for him.

He will be missed.

I'll miss him from asking me for how to decode geocaching, which some were related, which was nice that the geocaching community thought of that.

mate, we in the pub miss you

peter,
@peter@area51.social avatar

@penguin42 I will do, good idea.

I've come across that site but didn't think about it.

Will do this weekend

The Apple IIc turns 40 today. In this blog post, I explain why the IIc deserves consideration as the preferred Apple II for a retro hobbyist. https://dfarq.homeip.net/apple-iic/

peter,
@peter@area51.social avatar

@ochaos @siliconundergro I managed to get one last year at not a silly price (£200 ish) & in excellent condition, even with a modern power supply.

It's an NTSC model but the PSU is UK.

Keep looking as they do appear.

Very excited girl!! Wanted one of these for a long time when I was little. Now waiting for the /4A to show up 😊

Test Instruments Program Recorder being shown inside of it's original box. It has the manual resting against it.

peter,
@peter@area51.social avatar

@emily when you do get a TI, get a FinalGrom99 cart so you get to put multiple carts on an SD card.

I've got a mirror of cart images (even disks) here https://ftp.area51.dev/pub/ti99/

Playing with the Insta360 X4 today.

So far pretty good, just my phone isn't ideal to edit 8k videos, but here's 1 photo in 3 different views

Same photo but showing a pub & the local church
360 view showing everything that was captured in the single photo

peter,
@peter@area51.social avatar

Forgot to add the camera to that post, so here it is

peter,
@peter@area51.social avatar

@richard I've been using 360 cameras for quite a few years now, although not much recently.

Hopefully I'll restart using them now.

A nice feature (not just for this one) is taking a video an not worrying about what you are capturing and selecting what to focus on in post.

Good morning to you and a very fuck the Tories.

In order to to be able to fuck the Tories you now need ID. If you don’t have ID, go here ASAP to be able to vote against them next week.

Accepted ID:

  • UK / EEA Passport
  • UK / EEA Driving licence
  • several forms of pensioners travel card
  • several forms of disabled travel card

🚨Young persons travel cards Do Not Count!

peter,

@mattgrayyes remember that even if your ID has expired (e.g. passport) it's still valid for identification as long as the photo still looks like you

What's staggering about NASA getting Voyager 1 to resume sending data...

Is that we don't write software like that anymore.

peter,
@peter@area51.social avatar

@beadsland that and hardware that's hackable like that.

Also just think that it's something like 22 hours to send the commands to voyager & another 22 hours to get a response back

We're testing calls and SMS working on our live platform today. I don't have data usage provisioning yet, but very close to talking to testers.

@aaisp Are the physical SIM's nano ready or would I need to dig out the cutter like the old one?

peter,

@aaisp Makes sense.

I'm ok with a break in service between the two, just my phone only takes 2 normal sims not esim.

Any /4A owners know where I can find the original image for this sticker? https://github.com/endlos99/finalgrom99/blob/master/doc/cartshell.jpg

Working on a new project and want to print my own :)

I can't find it in the repo, but operating on low sleepy and high caffeine, so may have missed it

Thanks!

"The Why Files" is a youTube channel that regularly has videos with over a million views. They started as a kind of paranormal/fringe science channel that was mostly harmless, and that often debunked conspiracies.

But, they've moved beyond that in to material such as suppressed patents for cars that run on water. And treating climate change like it's a unresolved question. This has made their audience grow.

The things is they aren't just spitting lies. 1/

peter,
@peter@area51.social avatar

@llewelly @futurebird the number of channels now using ai narrators has increased as well which is making it even easier for this type of channel to churn out content even quicker.

It's easy to spot them when they try to say dates or numbers.

Sadly YouTube is going down hill & making it harder for the legitimate channels

I ordered an electrical gardening implement yesterday morning with it due to be delivered tomorrow.

Just got a notification from Royal Mail it's now out for delivery.

On a Sunday.

This isn't the first time they've done this to me.

Yeah, they tried to deliver, a day early.

Ignoring it's next working day, it's bloody Sunday.

peter,

@stux @goldstein I stopped using the apps on the TVs, and recently been using just web access.

Going to move stay from TVs when they fail & just got to monitor's, get better quality with them anyhow & not getting the "please wait whilst we update" when turning it on to watch something

On the , "RANDOMIZE USR nn" is the usual way to launch machine code when you don't require any parameters or return values.

But why did they use RANDOMIZE, and not GO TO or GO SUB?

Always seemed a bit of an odd choice - anyone know the history of this? 🤔

peter,
@peter@area51.social avatar

@retrotechtive if you think on how the basic tokenizer works, it's 1 byte randomize then one for usr, then the bytes for then entry point.

When writing a simple loader you'd want something short & quick
