Eurorack DIY kits from arrived today plus a little extra! Looking forward to assemble them. Thanks a lot! Make sure to check out his Youtube. He sells some kits on Tindie and I think all the modules are on Github as well. @synthdiy

I made two nucs today, my bees already have a lot of breed. Unfortunately we lost some hives during winter so I need to get to a sustainable level again.

My hydroponics system had a great start this year, the salad is almost ready. I also built a second horizontal one. The salad is only for testing, I'm going to plant vegetables there. #hydroponics #gardening

I finally started a setup. I think I’m going to design some simple utility modules first to get me going. Any other diy modules that you can recommend? @synthdiy

I'm looking at pole-mixing filters again which I implemented in my voice card design. Instead of having fixed filter responses I think of mixing the five signals with VCAs and have full voltage control on all signal components. This would mean you can dial in all possible filter responses but also shift them over time with an ADSR or other voltage source. Take a look at this great article on Electricdruid on the topic: https://electricdruid.net/multimode-filters-part-2-pole-mixing-filters

The PCBs for the input section of my polysynth arrived! I’m going to try a hot plate and stencil for the first time for soldering the SMD parts🤞 @synthdiy

Yeah! I 3d printed a dynamic microphone that is actually working!

This is the final hardware piece for my polysynth! It's an input board with 4 CV signals for parameters modulation and an external audio source which can be mixed in. There are pots for levels and a quad ADC which is connected via i2c to the main board of the @synthdiy

Hell yeah, the wavetable oscillator can play samples as well 😜

Next project is coming along. It's a wave table oscillator using from the and an 8-bit R-2R DAC. Idea is to morph between tables and have all sorts of CV inputs to change parameters. Currently I'm trying to get DMA for the ADC working to save some CPU cycles. This will end up in a module for my modular :fairydust:

Raspberry Pi Pico on a bread board with an 8-bit R-2R ladder DAC. There is a multi meter attached showing a frequency of 1.67kHz.

@synthdiy here is a first demo of the wave table oscillator. Basics of the software are working. I'm using a CV from an LFO two control the morphing between two wave tables.

@synthdiy ah, this really bugs me. I couldn’t get fixed point multiplication working for the morphing. I guess it’s some type casting issue I couldn’t tackle. I’m now using the second core of the Pico for floating point operations. Problem is that the oscillator is not getting to higher frequencies when there is too much going on.

Next distraction already got in: a from 1983. It has a few non working keys but I guess this is just a matter of proper cleaning. Maybe I redo the PSU. Also thinking of getting a programmer clone which makes this synth much more versatile.

Finally there is progress on the polysynth based on my voice card design! I got the control board working and there is control of the basic parameters. Still a lot of fiddling in software to do but now I can think of storing some patches :fairydust: @synthdiy

@sebastian @synthdiy yes, this is done by hand with a lot of flux 😀

@int21h @synthdiy Oh, that looks great! Is this already published anywhere? I think I'm going to put the main board and the control board on my Github in the next week or so. I have a bit more confidence by now that it is somewhat working.

polykit,
@polykit@chaos.social avatar

@SaguaroLynx @synthdiy thanks!

It is a Mega2560 Pro Mini based on the Atmel2560. It has a lot of IO pins, that's why I chose it.

The boards are interconnected by i2c serial bus and it works surprisingly well. There is also going to be an input board with an ADC also connected via i2c.

There are already videos on the voice card and mother board of the synth. Check them out if you're interested!

@int21h @synthdiy good question about the capacitors. But my guess would be that any film capacitor would do the job for the envelope and filter. It's more about the tolerances that the cards sound more or less the same.
