Never get tired of watching kids performing classic rock songs. The lead guitarist here is having a blast.

Idea for Mastodon: Remix/Shuffle mode for the Home timeline.

It takes all the posts in your Home timeline for the last 24 to 48 hours and displays them randomly. Each time you refresh it displays a different order, moving those you’ve seen to the end.

Over on the blog I expanded my post here about Neil Young's HARVEST MOON. Just a few short thoughts while I continue to work on my next epic. @SpaceAce contributes a nice comment on this record's place in the great Young discography.

Various Artists - Fast Product: Mutant Pop

This is a real bit nostalgia for me. Without getting in to my whole musical evolution, this was one of the most influential records from when I first began almost exclusively listening to punk/hardcore/post-punk. One of those records I’d been kicking myself for getting rid of. Found this sealed for like $10 and snappped it up. Gonna do a blog post at some point.

Party Party - Original Soundtrack Recording

New wave weekend! The Discogs seller who had that The Motels record was having a sale, all stock 50% off, minimum $20. So, Motels, this, and 2 other records, roughly $5/ea. Not entirely sure why I chose this, looked quirky. I remember seeing it in cutout bins all throughout the 80s/90s. Some goofy 50s covers; some really good tracks. Perfect $5 vinyl.

I wonder what the movie is like?

puffer, to random
@puffer@esoteric.party avatar

I guess I can see the appeal but this movie is just trying way to hard to be outrageous.

Over on the blog I explored some thoughts regarding the bit rates of my digital music library. This is not a prescriptive, and certainly not scientific. Just me trying to end a debate I have with myself.

The Who - Quadrophenia

I know I’m not blowing anyone’s mind with these records but holy shit! This 2011 pressing! I had a copy of Quadrophenia I got about a year ago, and it was a fine copy. Somebody had played it a lot. But this pressing showed up at Next Chapter Records in Putney , and it is near mint. It sounds so good. A perfect version of this tremendous record.

I SAVED ACE'S FOR LAST as a reward for listening to well especially Peter's ....
99% of people would say the classic on here is "New York Groove" and so I'll go along with them but I REALLY REALLY like the spacey, echo laden "I'm In Need Of Love" it's really awesome and druggy
It just occurred to me listening to "Speedin Back To My Baby" the only solo record that doesn't use female backup vocals is Paul!

@flockofnazguls @Defiance @SpaceAce I mean, it’s kinda dumb but it also kinda slaps.

On the blog last year I wrote about celebrating D. Boon's birthday, which is today. If you have a Minutemen record join us in recognizing one of the greats. If you drink you could do a shot of tequila.

    Johnny Mnemonic: Reloaded (1995)

I haven't watched this in years and I don't remember too much about it apart from lots of cool names and a Hollywood cash in on the internet / cyberpunk craze.

This is the Reloaded edition, a fan has edited together both cuts of the film (US & Japanese) to create a longer, fuller cut.

Oh. It’s so good. Longo originally envisioned it that way. It’s like watching a different movie. It really highlights and amplifies the surrealism of it, the noir aspects.
