Perception manager and drone wielder. Supplemental career making stuff for macOS and surrounding forbidden zones. Technical volunteer at the Mount Wilson Observatory.

If you were on an indie label in LA in the 90s, there's a good chance I made your website. If you were on the DroneOn list, we may have met?

Not having Roger Corman around is like losing an element of the periodic table. As important to culture as oxygen, carbon, and Bill Gaines. Time spent watching his movies is not subtracted from your lifespan but added to it 2x over. Yay! Finally, the vehicle won't start at all... rather than being intermittent. New starter or cables needed, likely. Has been spotty for months, but neither I nor my mechanic had been able to diagnose it since it was so intermittent. Intermittent car problems are worse than car problems.

@david @ai6yr I once drove a ‘71 Mercury that had an axe handle as a reserve starter motor starter - until the starter completely failed and I had to replace it one night in the UC Irvine Physical Sciences parking lot.

I need to go take a picture of the trashed van for sale up the street here, perfect for that Chris Farley skit. (they want $2K for it... dunno if it runs, even). #vans https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv2VIEY9-A8

@glightly @ai6yr I need to move about 500lbs of boxes from the east coast to the west and for a few days seriously considered committing van arbitrage - buying one out there, moving the stuff, and reselling here in CA. Quickly talked myself out of it when I saw how insane the market is.

It's free BBQ season around here. My advice: you can usually restore Weber grills (all parts are replaceable), and usually it's mostly Simply Green and replacing the burners, grills, and the igniter. You'll end up with something much better (IMHO) than whatever the 'sale" grill was at the big box store.

@ai6yr One of long-term, currently-in-stasis, need deep time, and $+ to continue project is an app that is essentially “Shazam/Bird Finder for power lines, antennas and surveilance devices” Point your phone at an antenna/cluster of devices on a pole and get a read back on what they all are. One 1.0 feature I wanna have is ability to figure out what frequency/operation band is based on reverse-enginering the antenna wire dimensions from a distance. Similar to iphone’s built-in Measure app.

I keep looking at one of the discount Series 8 to replace my lasts barely half a day Series 3 but just can't pull the trigger.

If the battery replacement wasn't $80 I'd just get it on the 3 because never having to upgrade the OS on the watch is rather nice "feature”.
