I am, to be honest, somewhat annoyed by folks who celebrate the fact that they managed to avoid getting infected with covid so far as personal achievement.

It's certainly a question of being careful but on top of that of luck and priviledge to be able to avoid risk situations.

You can be careful and have to take bus to/from work and get infected in spite of wearing a mask on said bus. Your partner can get it, twice, and not pass it on to you, for you to finally catch it at a work conference.

Genuary 8: Chaotic System

My take on the double Pendulum.
The math on Wikipedia gave me a headache, so I solved it with coil forces: the balls are connected with an invisible coil and one of the balls is connected to the upper middle with another coil.

The varying colors have varying coil constants. It takes a while for them to go out of phase but then they do it enthusiastically...

2 blue dots start moving under the forces of gravity and 2 coils connecting them and a fixed point. They start getting a rainbow tail that starts to move more and more diversely until it dissolves into complete chaos.

Genuary Prompt Nr. 5 is "In the style of Vera Molnàr". When I looked at her works I liked the framing squares with things going on in them. They reminded me at what I saw when investigating Dynamical Systems. This is 8 iterations of the function f(x,y)=( x-(1+y/4)tan(y)-t*y , x )

Ich bin übrigens wirklich froh darüber, dass ich vieles, was jetzt immer mal wieder in den Medien durchtröpfelt, schon gelesen habe, als nach den ersten Durchhalteparolen der Pandemie die Verharmlosung eingesetzt hat.

Natürlich schaue ich auch manchmal neidvoll auf die, die ihr 2019-Leben wieder leben. Aber die meisten von uns 😷 werden nach ein paar Jahren froh sein, dass sie nur wenige Runden oder gar keine mitgenommen haben.

Prävention nervt! Ja, absolut! Aber wir machen das schon richtig.

@sarah_ist_muede vielen Dank! Ja, dass eine Maske gut schützt, war für mich schon im letzten Winter wichtig fürs Gefühl - auch im Bus voller Schulkinder hab ich mich nicht angesteckt.

Leider hilft das als Elter kleiner Kinder, die nicht durchgängig Maske tragen können, nicht viel. Es macht mich wütend, dass die kaum geschützt sind, nur weil die Erwachsenen sich total verweigern.

Aber ja: jede Käsescheibe hilft und der Sommer wird besser.

@sarah_ist_muede ich finde, GERADE weil man da so eine Lücke im Schutz hat, macht Vorsicht sehr viel Sinn.

Die Kinder können keine Maske tragen, müssen in die Schule, aber ich kann sie und mich impfen lassen, Maske tragen, Veranstaltungen drinnen vermeiden, Kontakte reduzieren.

Jede Käsescheibe ist wichtig.

@AdeptVeritatis @sarah_ist_muede ja, das finde ich auch wichtig: nicht alles oder nichts, es geht um Wahrscheinlichkeiten.

Leider ist das diesbezügliche Abwägen, ob man dies oder jenes jetzt riskiert, auch sehr kräftezehrend auf Dauer. Aber es muss halt sein, auch wenn ich die Unbeschwertheit vermisse.

Ich komme gerade von einem längeren Besuch in einer Wohnung, die zwar ordentlich, aber ziemlich voll ist. Alle Regalbretter und Schubladen bis auf Anschlag gefüllt, auf allen Flächen Deko. Nicht übermäßig viel, alles geschmackvoll und gemütlich, aber meine Psyche rief die ganze Zeit nach freien Flächen. (No judgement übrigens — zum einen habe ich keine drei Kinder, zum anderen sind die Wohlfühlbedingungen einfach unterschiedlich für Menschen.)
