Wait, I probably need to update all my VMs to 10.0 now that it has been officially released... 🤔 :netbsd:

rhialto,
@rhialto@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@ParadeGrotesque Sure you can... Run sysupgrade inside the vm and it will update it, just like a normal machine.

If you want to do it "from the outside" you will have to mount the vm's file system somewhere and use the destdir option.

PSA: Time to delete your Glassdoor account

The TL;DR is: Glassdoor now requires your real name and

will add it to older accounts without your consent if they learn it,

and your only option is to delete your account. They do not care that this puts people at risk with their employers. They do not care that this seems to run counter to their own data-privacy policies.

One more proof that "[…] Microsoft treated the PC hardware platform as if it owned it, and thus hurt consumers, software developers, PC OEMs, OS competitors, and the industry in general. That's a layman's definition of abusing a monopoly." (Jean-Louis Gassée)

There are many OSes that can run on a PC, so off my keyboard !

@mmu_man @dragestil and the arrogance about the windows key is also amazing...

“Nearly 30 years ago, we introduced the Windows key to the PC keyboard that enabled people all over the world to interact with Windows,” says Yusuf Mehdi, executive vice president and consumer chief marketing officer at Microsoft.

    @darth Since that would be an interlaced mode, I guess you would need slower de fosphor for it, or a FlickerFixer.

    At least in left-to-right languages, scroll bars should be on the left side of the window. That is where most of the text is, so your attention tends to be on the left. Looking all the way to the right to find and manipulate the scrollbar is annoying.

    Windows without scrollbar (or hiding scrollbars!) are also annoying. They are missing an indication of how far you got through the page. Therefore, infinitely scrolling pages are also bad (and for other reasons).

    Is anyone else unable to load in with enabled?

    @runarcn It looks weird for me... like it doesn't load any text, but the videos (if I'm on a video page) actually do play.

    This is not a good for us. Willow has taken a turn for the worse and we had to rush her to the emergency vet late last night. It's not looking too good right now. Please keep her in your thoughts 🙏

    It seems 's "A Bright Shining Star" doesn't run on my upgraded CBM 3016. Not quite sure if it is the ROM (BASIC 4.0) that's the issue here, or something else. I don't think that the 3000 series uses the CRTC... I thought it was a relabeled 2001-16N. I might investigate more on how to get it running though.

    Disk directory artwork for the demo, showing a large PETSCII GP logo "45 years late on the PET!"

    rhialto,
    @rhialto@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

    @root42 It should be easy to see if there is a 6545 in your PET. It could have gotten a newer motherboard than the outside label would suggest...
    I fixed svn VICE so it runs the hardware version of the demo. With that you you could test nonstandard PET models if you'd like.
