Isle of Wight based picture seller. I run a small gallery selling my husband's landscape photography. Previously I worked as a project worker in a centre for the homeless and rootless and later in homeless prevention/tenancy support. I tend to post photos of the Isle of Wight , boost other photos that appeal to me, share what music I'm (and others I follow) are listening to. In my case it's usually rock! Give me nature, animals, music, vegan food, Coventry City FC and I'm happy!

this morning, photographed at 4.30am by my husband.

Not an image that we'll be printing up as it was too windy to capture the scene to a high standard. The fishing boat adds a little interest to the scene. The joys of when a ridiculously early start to the day, a 40 mile round trip and only half the weather conditions play ball! As this view only occurs a couple of times a year it has to be done!

I stayed in bed so missed all the fun.

My husband had to wait for 6 years to capture this view of .

Taken as the set at 4.30 am last summer. This shot is only possible a couple of times each year. He almost had it in 2016 but it was slightly too breezy and the telephoto lens couldn't keep in focus.

It causes controversy as some think it's fake, I promise you that it is not. It involved much research, persistence and luck with the weather! It's the cover shot on our 2024 calendar

sharongascoigne,

@Whiskeyomega Ooh I don't know about that?

This is on the It's a tourist hotspot and the beach is usually pretty crowded in the summer.

This isn't the case during the winter and my husband had the beach to himself when he took this view. Well, except that I was there too 😄
Despite my hashtag I've just remembered that it was a !!

Last night's sunset at on the

The sea pinks/pink thrift in bloom. Mermaid Rock has been steadily eroding over the past couple of years and despite photographing this view repeatedly it now looks very different compared to the last time that Steve (my husband ) took it.

The sea is often this beautiful colour during the late spring and early summer. The clear sky gave little detail in the sunset but a vivid sky might have been a bit hectic for this scene!

So far it's been a pretty mixed bag on . Absolutely some really really poor ones. So far Serbia have taken the title of worst act with a score of -2.2 from me 😂😂

sharongascoigne,

@wild1145 Serbia all the way for me so far. Very Nine Inch Nails, made me laugh 😅

I wanted something sunny and summery to put on a large canvas for the shop window today. I was struggling to choose when my husband remembered this image that he took during last year's at the on the

We've never printed this up before and it had been forgotten until last night. It should brighten up the window nicely.

It won't be long until this year's race when over 1500 yachts sail around the Island.

Hopefully will become a thing on here and I thought I'd add one of my husband's photos as a contribution.

This is the west coast of the photographed during one of the most extreme sunsets I've ever witnessed. Our son said it looked like a volcano had erupted in the sky!

Last night's full moon as it rose over Bembridge Lifeboat Station.

It was lovely and calm down on the beach as we watched the emerge from the low cloud. This photo taken by my husband does it far more justice than my wobbly video that I posted last night!

I love this time of year! This needs a click.

My friend has just posted his latest painting online but he isn't on Mastodon. I must persuade him to sign up
He and my husband are old school mates, they went mountain biking in Wales together a couple of weeks ago. Now he lives in the where he runs his own Gallery with his wife.
He has wonderful scenery there for inspiration

I've not posted this image on any other platform as yet, I guess I will tomorrow.

I don't think my husband (the photographer) has even got it on our website.

I remember chatting to a man down there about cameras and winging it a bit while Steve was busy doing all the work!

This is hot off the press as my husband only took this shot 10 hours ago. I posted a pic of the camera in action up there last night!

Unusually the internal lights are on inside the lighthouse, I think maintenance was being carried out on it. This location often records the highest wind speeds in the UK when it's stormy. It was the complete opposite of that last night, so calm!

Another view for

This is on the photographed during exceptional circumstances.

A new moon so very little natural light, the in amazing clarity and the putting on a wonderful display.

My husband was thrilled to be there at the right time!

Continuing on with my #InternationalDarkSkyWeek posts here's another of my husband's images taken last year.

The #MilkyWay at #FreshwaterBay on the #IsleofWight

The enormous rock formation that stands out to sea is named Stag Rock. The Island has been put forward as a candidate as a Dark Skies Park. We are so lucky to have little light pollution here.

I've posted this photo before, at the tail end of last year but as it's and I thought I'd share it again!

This is the Longstone on the with visible in the sky. The Island is applying to become a Dark Skies Park and attracts many photographers to capture the views here.

My husband took the shot, I light painted the Longstone with a small torch. If I remember I'll post some more night sky photos over the week.
